I had issues setting up and using Wise. It was an inconvenience for me so I stay with PP or card with a trustworthy TD

Wise remains the go-to

I don't suppose you would know if/how they handle disputes? My major concern is with the recent raids, a vendor being raided and not being able to follow through on the watch. There's nothing better for that than a chargeback on CC (Which I have NEVER done for anything, and I love and respect my watch vendor, it's just nice having the peace of mind).

I pay Wise through credit card not bank link. So I can chargeback the card if needed, I guess.
Wise also has a dispute system but I don’t think it will go anywhere.

I would say that if the TD gets screwed to a point where he cannot make a comeback to RwI and honor his sales, then I would tend to write off the money. Especially if he is one with whom I have a longstanding relationship (which I don’t with none btw)

Good call thanks mate. I do happen to have a strong relationship. I'll look into Wise.

I never have thought of the genius idea of using a pre-paid Visa or MasterCard gift card before. I only have a couple of TDs that I trust because they allow me to use PayPal Family & Friends. Now I can actually branch out to using other TDs with this new method of payment that I just discovered! Thanks!

Or you can use Wise to generate a one-use card number.

Without the special handshake, you're looking at c5%.

Check the relevant payment option section on your chosen TD's website.

I will say that after getting my card hacked after shopping with a certain TD I am leary of using him now even with a virtual card. Too bad because there are at least two more items I want. Maybe card processors need to be made more secure. I don't know

Open an account at Revolut, they have single-use debit card, no one can use it a second time.

Nothing to do with the TD mate, it's the dodgy processors who suck.

In my own personal case I use a different payment methodology involving a separate very basic bank account for Reps and other (what may be iffy) internet purchasing.

I set this account up 25 odd years ago as I used to buy core units and other parts for my Transmission firm.
These buys involved shall we say "dubious" characters in salvage yard companies !!

The way this works is that the balance stays at £10, and just before any purchase I transfer the exact purchase total amount, so far over decades now that has worked perfectly for me ;)

Of course I use PP F&F in M2M sales, I choose the seller as well as the watch, and also PP F&F with TD's who take that and that I know and trust (y)

The only thing I would add is unless I knew for a fact that the TD had changed his processing company I too would be reticent ;)
Yep, that’s probably what happened. Only a few months before when I purchased another watch all was fine and then the issue happened. Gotta laugh if they claim their processor is secure and gotta use the payment methods others have outlined above

I need to make a new checking account so I can use Wise. My credit union doesn't allow it and now Paypal is off the table for my preferred TD, I'm stuck till I can sort one out.
