I'm about to pull the trigger on one of these. Does anyone know if there are any side by side comparisons of the Avenger GMT DLC vs GEN? This post has the Blackbird side by side:

https://forum.replica-watch.info/threads/breitling-avenger-gmt-dlc-gf-side-by-side-with-gen.383179/

Is the color is on these is as close to GEN as the Blackbird even though it is steel vs titanium? I thought I was going to go with the SS, but @Therion666 watch looks so good, I might have to go DLC.

Thanks!

There is one thing to mention: The steel versions have got one little tell. If you know where to look...
The 3 o'clock marker beneath the date window is a tad too short. Look here:

The DLC version seems to be correct in this detail. It does look great.

I don't know about the color. Never had the chance to handle a gen Avenger GMT II DLC.

Thank you for pointing that out. Maybe they fixed the marker on newer versions? The pictures of the DLC on the InTime website have the short 3 o'clock mark too.

I've got the gen. I brushed the bracelet and the topside of the watch case. Have a look on the pic down below.
Some words to the gen bracelets: It is NOT availible in a brushed version for this watch! You will need the polished 170A bracelet. Other possibility is to buy the brushed bracelet from the Breitling Colt 44. But those endlinks don't fit the Avenger's case. So you have to buy additionally 170A endlinks and brush them. They can easily be changed because they're screwed on to the first link.

What did you brush that with, it looks fantastic! Did you take the bezel off or just brush carefully next to it?

@WatchestoPlay: I took the bezel apart for brushing. All work has been carefully done by hand with 3M Scotchbrite pads and Gerryflex abrasive block "medium".

Gen is steel. Not titanium.

Does Breitling make a Avenger II GMT DLC version ? I could not find one. I only found the Black version.

I am pretty new here, and I could be wrong, but I was under the impression that the Breitling blacksteel has a DLC (Diamond-Like-Carbon) coating, so they are one and the same. On the Breitling website, a description of the blacksteel Navitimer says:

"...from its satin-brushed steel case coated with an ultra-resistant carbon-based treatment..."

https://www.breitling.com/en/news/details/navitimer-46-blacksteel-4226

I believe that Breitling outsources the process to a Swiss company:

Gen is steel. Not titanium.

Thanks for the reply. Sorry, I might not have been clear. I was referring to the other pictures of the Blackbird being titanium, not the GMT. I was wondering if anyone had side by side photos of the GMT DLC vs GEN because they are steel rather than the Blackbird pictures that are titanium.

I'm looking forward to this watch! Would the SS bracelet from a Navitimer Montbrillant Datora fit this well? It's 22mm, just wondering if the shape is similar.

I have the Navitimer Montbrillant Datora here i can use to check. I don't think it will work because the lugs are much different. If I have time tomorrow I will check by going to the Breitling website, build the watch to get the bracelet number.

Your link does look like DLC. The photo I looked at last night on Breitling.com was so black it looked like PVD coated watch. Thanks for the info.

DLC (Diamond Like Compound/Coating) is just a specific coating applied with the PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) process. And the images on all Gen websites are touched up with Photoshop. Black steel (all Breitlings that start with a "M" for their model number) is just breitling's way of labeling their DLC coated watches.

The version in the add has a rubber strap with deployant, but they sell it on rubber with a regular pin buckle too, I saw one at the AD'S.

Considering the bracelet: Only 170A endlinks do properly fit this case. Nothing other. Here is a pic from Breitling website. Zoom in and the engraving 170A is barely visible.

I can confirm this, too as I own the gen. Some guys fitted a Colt 44 brushed bracelet. You can mount it but the curvature and shape does not follow the case. Looks terrible.
170A also fits the Avenger II chrono. But nothing else.

Breitling only offers the GMT II with tang buckles. Look here:

If money is not the thing of course you may combine the watch with a black deployant clasp with any matching Breitling strap. It's only about 670€ without the strap...

For example Military rubber for about over 200€...:
