I don't think you will find a rep with a functional HE valve.
Somebody correct me if I'm wrong on this.
Most reps aren't even waterproof enough to use in the shower, so imagine going deepsea diving with it.

Really trying to resist the Gen insert... Thoughts? Should I go that step further?

I would REALLY say do not get a gen insert.... the BP inserts on these are incredible! iv just finished the same build as you (TC dial, hands , crown tube and bracelet, and a click spring mod) and it's bloody fantastic!!! the gen insert however is not necessary in the slightest, the pearls on these are already top notch!

if you are wanting to take it a step further is say get a gen 2824/2836/sw220 as there's nothing more annoying than a nice solid piece that craps out in 10 weeks when the crappy Asian Mvmt fails.

Thanks for the input tjdilla, I opted for the TC2824 just to give it a go, at $130 I know it's close to a swiss 2824 but with the results he was getting I thought it was worth a shot.. Ok I'll hold off the insert for now and see what it looks like when I get it.

Care to share what you did with the click spring? I have dial and hands set incoming from TC, also ordered pack of click springs just in case.

I noticed something interesting. Clone ETA.

But.. the base plate is curved by the balance wheel. They are supposed to be straight on the clones.

Typical BP quality crown/tube. The WORST. Just like a BP TT ceramic I got for my father, the tube is chewed up like a dog toy. It feels like screwing down sandpaper even after cleaning and lubing.

this will eventually have to go, unacceptable.

insert is good. Sanding it to sit a bit lower.

TC bracelet is still somewhere besides here. The hands are too gray, i'll probably order a TC dial/hand set. Overall, the watch is impressive but BP factory continues to do very sloppy work.

Totally agree on the sloppy part. Looks like they were assembled in a rush.

On the clone movements> The base plate that you mentioned as "curved rather than straight"; that only applies to one of the several clone makers, not all of them.

That actually looks like an older ETA with that particular shock assembly.

I didn't know that. So many times I have seen members use that as one of the tells to ID gen/rep ETA movements.

id be ok with clarks or OEM for all of it, even the hands if they match the BP dial. I have to read back and see what you guys have recommended now that the watch is actually here. R2 linked the click spring, I will get that one. But if I can get everything together (tube, hands, click spring, maybe crown?), i'd like to do that.

The crown/tube have to fit properly and retain the water tightness of the case.

I'm waiting on my watch from Sora. Should be here in a couple of days. Can't wait. I also have the TC crown/tube, bracelet, dial/hands (waiting on delivery,)- and the click spring from watchmaterial.

I went for clone 2836 movement. I'll see how it runs, and for how long. If it fails I'll swap in a gen ETA 2836 I have which was just serviced.

My Gen crown / Clarks tube combo are freaking awesome!

BTW, If anyone has a broken, or ruined BP SD that they want to sell the mid case reasonably cheap, let me know.

I really want to check one out. Maybe rebuild my SSD V2, although I really love it the way it is. Just really want to check out the difference in the case and particularly the rehaut.

I was able to get an gen crown for ~80 from the bay and opted for clark's tube.
