TC bracelet confirmed , and ordered . Lead time is 21 days no biggie though I'm sure it will be well worth it !!!

SIDE NOTE

Did any of you guys put the bracelet right on without issues ?

That's what he always says, but in my experience it never takes that long. Usually takes me about a week to receive parts from him.

Really ? I might pull the trigger on the LV Sub then !! I've been going back and forth with myself for a month now ...

Question : on a TC sub , does the gen (or aftermarket Clark) bezel "snap" right on the assembly ? I don't want to get a fine watch and break it ! (I've never "opened" up a watch ...)

Search around, there are lots of threads about this. Short answer is that it should just snap in, but due to variances between individual watches sometimes the insert needs to be trimmed. Mine didn't.

Also, be forewarned that installing the clArk insert is more difffict than the gen. It's not as rigid, so it doesn't really snap in place the way the gen does. I bent two of them beyond repair trying to install them, while I had no difficulty with the gen.

I'm thinking the yachtmaster TC may be a better buy for me :/ it's pricey but if it looks like it does in the pics then I'm sure it's worth every penny.

It's supposed to be pretty much indistinguishable from the gen. I don't really like the style, otherwise I would have bought one long ago.

both are great reps. TC YM is out of the box a fantastic rep, it is probably a rep which will go into rep history (WM9). plus it comes with gen Swiss ETA.
BP SD is great value for the money, but it will need some mods. after the modding, it will be on the same level as the TC YM.
these are two completely different watches.... I have them both (well, the BP is under construction) and they are both keepers which will guide me through the next 20-30 years (yes, I will take care of them and have them serviced).

I would say the SD is much more casual while the YM is very dressy and special. the YM should be worn by someone dressing very classic otherwise it will look stupid. I would even go that far that it should only be worn by people aged 40+ keep in mind that the YM was built to be a luxury Sub. I hardly wear my YM on the job (I am a lawyer) with a suit as I fear it might distract clients as it is so fancy. SD is fine with everything.

can anyone shed any light on water proofing the crown seal with silicone grease and how one would do this ?

Shay, silicone the tube seal with a small oiler. The gen has triple crown seals as do some reps. One inside the tube, one on the outside and one inside the crown that seals to the tube.
