To be fair a gen 16570 bezel can be bought for around 80-120 gbp albeit slightly used. But I have seen a few sell recently on eBay for around this price.

edit: I have a viet bezel somewhere at home which I can dig out if someone wants it. Proportions aren’t exactly like gen, but the triangles are in the correct location.

Picked these up a while back because they were ugly and sold cheap (and when I say "cheap," I mean like $12 and $30).

You say potato, I say potahto, ugly looks like Patina to me.

I think they'll clean up nicely, but keep a little vintage look to them.

I know a rep is a fake made in China. So that one is never going to perfect. Even a gen has sometimes flaws. And to be frank, a nice rep costs about 200-400euro. A gen about 10-12k. Had a gen DJ 41, sold it cause I needed the money! And after all, it is just a watch. Don´t know why I came back to reps. Maybe cause I had a few San Martins and thought, before I put on a SM, why not buy a descent Rep and have at least the looks :) :)

I´m not looking for perfection, just enjoying watches of all kind!

Gen 16570’s are like 5-6k all day

But you can build a Franken for 1/4 of that or less if you are patient.

Great news for sure for the price, BUT i think that we need to think that some things need to be fixed on the probably model that will realesed:

-lugs are a bit big, and have a wrong and big lateral chamfer the need to be fixed.

-the 16170 and 16570 from BP have an historically “high” case profile compared to the gen. And aslo the caseback thickness doesen’t help to have a flat profile when the watch is on the wrist like the gen has.

-BP from years ago makes standards bracelets for all clasp (short and long) so could be easily that the clasp will report the wrong “93250” inside and also wrong code on the SEL

-BP bezel it’s really uguly from the last 7-8 years at least. They make thin engrave on the bezel and also a “stright” 8 on 8 and on 18. You can spot instantly.

-The date magnification on all BP are too big. The crystal gasket and reahut height need to be fixed.

-the “swiss made” is near the 6 o clock index, without the necessary space (compared with gen dials).

My personally thing it’s a very good base for the price and with a good used gen bezel, the CG’s and lugs reshape this watch can be a great daily. Then of course, the italian bracelet could be a must, if fit properly. :)

Unfortunally in the story BP isn’t a factory that invest in “upgrade” or “update” their watches because these are mid-high quality price watches and they sell them in any case. Throwback in the past also in the old version they write in the description that “they made from a gen 2006 sample” and that’s why i’m not so optimistic that they made a good sample but only the old 2836 machined to fix the VR3186.

Here an example of one BP that i had done with 2836 with gen bezel, crystal, lugs and cg’s reshape etc etc. It is a very nice watch for a base.

The last two picture are of my last franken that i had built two months ago. Two different things, but also two different prices :)

Better than the BP one for sure

That’s BP mate, check the “stright” 8 that it has. BP bezel is the only one that has this kind of wrong 8
I just found this on AliExpress: 176,39€ | Good Quality Stainless Steel Watch Bezel For Vintage Explorer Two 16570, Aftermarket Replace Watch Parts

Really ugly, and overpriced as hell
175€?

I can get gen for less

What he said guys.. Get the gen for less or a bit more it’s the best way.

I personally never think to spent 170/180€ on an aftermarket bezel with poor quality like this one in the previous post.

They don't look same to me. On the BP the double digits don't even look to be aligned, they jumbled together at odd angles (22 and 24). At least that's my impression.

You guys need to help me because my ebay only shows 300€ upwards
I bought mine two years ago. I guess prices have risen indeed. I happened to come upon one locally here in Norway but when I was skimming ebay at that time they were all $150-$350 depending on condition with a few outliers in either direction. Damn.

Yup, maybe just different batch(like usually BP do all over those years), but if you’re looking at how to the “2” of “20” it’s right crocked, like the “2” of “24” and the first “2” of “22” it’s left crocked, the “1” and “2” of all numbers, and that the “8” doesn’t have the “curve” profile between one circle and the other you can see easily that the font it’s exactly the same :)
So this bezel it’s just an highly overpriced bezel with totally wrong font that doesn’t worth 175€ for sure. :)

Of course... confused with the 12610ln..... 5-6 is quite low. Haven´t seen one for 6 or less... more like 7-8

I have the old BP. The bezel has been the only thing that's really bothered me.

Still wishing I had picked up a few of those Ebay German cases while they were available though.

Bivintage is $510 shipped without bezel
