BP realeses 2006 version of Explorer II

Don’t have one in hand, I’m just going off photos from a dealer.

I’m going to order a case Friday so fingers crossed

Just picked up a BP 16610 because I was curious. So far, I'm very happy. Not perfect, but damn good for the price.

I've got a few gen bezels in the stash, I'm wondering if some case work could solve the other problems.

BP usually has decent dials...

Likely have to slim the lugs a little and then shape the CGs and open the crown area.

It doesn’t look as bad as the early SA3186 16710 cases were.

Honestly, the bezel font is indeed thinner than gen but not shockingly so

With the right level of abuse, i mean delicate ageing, that will have a passing grade

The CG however need a few hours of weightloss

Here’s my old 2836 version..



Looks like the new version has slightly fatter lugs (could just be my eyes) but smaller crown guards - crown looks less suffocated..

Swiss made text is still too close to the 6 o’clock marker.. I’ve seen a very similar dial for sale from raffles. Wonder if that’s what they use..

And the bezel still has incorrect marker locations..

This being said, I think it’s a great base to start from. Very tempted to order one.

It looks like typical BP mix-mash of old parts and new parts.

For those with lower budgets it will be fine. Will update once I get cases in hand, really hoping that the one I’m ordering isn’t a BP 16710 and I can use my gen bezel on it.

My old DG movement BP polar I modded a while ago with a vr3186, ARF no AR crystal, gen bezel and shaved the CGs on the inside.

It's not bad. I actually used to have one of these in gen. I recently ordered the Clean 42, so I think I will stick with that for my Explorer II itch.
