I'm a neanderthal by any watchmakers standards, really impatient and gung ho so before anyone rips into me, yes i'm aware i didn't have gloves, no that's sure as hell not a sterile environment and I'm totally ok with that!
I cracked it open to take a look (using a 25mm socket and a swimming cap....) Then I released the crown with a watchmakers screwdriver. There was a section which was unthreaded which i decided to remove with a jewelers file.

I popped some rodico in there to catch any filings. (not actually how was pictured in the end. the rodico was shoved inside the crown tube.

I filed this back and successfully made it more flush. It's not perfect but it's better. I also left the two O rings out because i don't intend to get it wet anyway and it seemed to prevent it sitting more flush.

Also as a comment on the other posts; does anyone else now thing the lume is too white?
