but does the gen crystal have to stick out so much? Have you also changed the gasket?

So, from what Shaung told me, plenty of ARF's in stock, and shipment taking about a month because of the COVID situation. Packages are piled up in warehouses in DHL/ customs control with approx 10days buffer to get on a flight. At this point, probably will be as slow as freight from CN-USA. Not the best time to order. Fortunately, I'm certain this one is just getting sweeter and sweeter as it ripens in that package waiting for me. Surely going to get a thourough oil bath and degaussing before I photograph and wear. Does anybody have a diy method of demagnetization that has proven effective with these movements? (SH, VR, SA 3185/6)

I just received my ARF 116710LN just 10 minutes ago and it is already broken LOL

So I was setting the time to get to the nearest hour and I put the crown back and pulled it out to the second position to set the date. And the datewheel got stuck and now the hour hand is slipping like mad!!

Now I know the VR3185 is still the better movement.

Same thing happened to me. I'm waiting on a VR3185 so that I can swap the movements over. Always a risk when going with reps sadly.

I have ordered a gen blistered insert and a vr movement, but I’m not sure if is worth the gen crystal or not.. i think that gen is always better, but I have seen a video comparing an arf and a gen crystal and that guy says that the arf crystal is very close.. any suggest? Thanks

I think gen crystal is a huge upgrade and must for any watch that has a cyclop. The visual effect is stunning.

I am interested in an ARF GMT as well. I already have a gen insert that i would install. I have updated bezel inserts on Noobs and very easy to take it off with heat and glue the gen.

What is the process of taking the insert off on ARF GMT and installing a gen insert?

Thanks

Where did you buy VR movement? TDs also sell the movement alone?

Inserts are friction fitted on the arf like gen and not glued as per Noob. You need a special press to successfully remove the gmt insert otherwise it snaps as mine did! Gen insert snapped in nicely though. Here I my Arf sat in its Rolex house.

ARRIVED!! Pd 5/15 del. 5/28 via DHL
Here are some pics right OTB, great look and feel on the wrist, flaws spoken of here such as bezel engraving too deep and date font too thick seem just fine, compared w gen. Currently in a baby oil bath, but cycled thru all funtions and dates exceptionally smoothly, the SH3186 sweeps unusually smooth and even, and setting features do feel almost identical to gen, a bit less crisp. Keeping time to the second over the last 36hrs, we shall see how it holds up after some using. Enjoy, I'll take requests for pics as I get into This project. So far, baby oil bath and hyper flexing all links is the only work done.
