The movements are really easy to tell apart. Just look for the gold colored balance staff shock absorber and blue hairspring on the VR3185. Also the SA has the regulator and beat corrector arms reversed on the balance assembly. Not to mention the rough shoddy finish.

TDs, factories and vendors call the VR an SA3186. The VR has always been engraved 3186. We decided as forum members to call it the VR3185 to easily differentiate between it and the SH/SA 3186. It makes sense to call it a 3185 because the hour jump click is cloned from the gen 3185. The 3186 gen jump click is different and less robust.

Gen jumping hour click springs compared

Thank you very much Master :)

Knxvlln is that a typo or do you genuinely mean the 3136 datejust movement?

If think you've just bought an ARF right? That comes with a 3186 clone, SH3186. Recommended gen parts to improve reliability are:
  • 3186-260
  • 3186-657
  • 3186-665
Hope that helps

Update: finally got update re shipping from my TD. Completed pmt on 5/15, got Qc, approved, 5/20 shipped today via DHL. (HK) I've had pkgs take 14 days to reach me in CONUS via EMS. We will see if DHL is faster, esp if COVID19 is still affecting infrastructure. Will advise!

To those who have put a gen crystal on their ARF, which gasket did you use?
My gen CAR-V3-C1 crystal has a 2.3mm gasket what's way too small. It's also thicker in outer diameter than the ARF gasket, so wondering if a taller 2.7mm gen gasket would fit under the ARF hytrel ring or if it's too tight. The ARF gasket is 2.7-3mm tall, very crooked.

Also have an unopened CAR-C1 crystal but assume the gasket is also 2.3mm as they are both c1.
2.7mm gen should be c3 IIRC?

Mine was shipped from Intime on 5/8, on DHL. It’s been in Chicago for a week tomorrow. It seems to be moving to USPS maybe this weekend. Delivery is estimated for 5/27. In this hobby, patience is a virtue.

There are few things in life that is finer than a gen Rolex dial with 18k white gold surrounds and 18k white gold hands, instead of polished stainless steel.

yes bro ;-) I bought dial + hands chromalight together with crystal + dw + bezel + insert + VR3186.
All gen except ARF 904L steel parts that are made very well.

I feel you on that. Been trolling local pawnshops for projects to occupy the mind. Tissot chronograph and precisionist 1/1000 200$ together. Already bored and shopping for gen parts to put in the ARF. Crystal seems to be a no brainer, as for the rest of the ext. cosmetics I need to see the watch in person to see what I need to replace. If the finish on the SH is decent, I'm going to Frankenstein as many Gen parts into it as possible. If it's shoddy, I'll leave it as is and start replacing parts in a VR to swap out.

If I decide to make the SH the base for this project, I'm going to drop an ETA or the likes in just so I can get some gentle wear on the case and bracelet while I complete this project. IMO gentle wear looks and feels good. I'm hoping to make this ARF my crowning achievment, I've already fallen in love with it sight unseen. Found most of what I need locally.
