My first impressions of the ARF "Kermit":

- noisy SH3135 rotor
- crap date wheel
- wobbly bezel
- bracelet needs oil bath

This watch needs a lot of mods or gen parts to satisfy!

Will post some pictures compared to gen soon!
Hope the bezel inlay color is OK when comparing.

So long

Ok great really looking forward to to see the pictures!

All above I am expecting only the bracelet issue you mentioned surprised me since ARF usually have best quality and finishing on there bracelets.

you are sure? I ask the seller and it should be this (BK build):
- JF 16610
- Swiss ETA 2824-2 H4
- Noob DWO
- ETA dial (wm9 or Noob 116610LN dial with JF 16610 indices transplanted on) + ETA hands
- wm9 crown tube

Well the bezel insert is definitely not JF. The case lug bevelling is different than JF. Also check your clasp code it should be “EO6”

thanks a lot, learning everyday a bit more! The claps code is E06. Please can you tell me the difference between the „20“ on a JF and ARF insert?

Just got one too. Agreed on the date wheel. Not too crazy about the cyclops either.

here is the link to the sell history of the watch on RWI. Maybe JF use different inserts the last ones they sell. As you can see this insert was sold end of 2019 by JF to BK to build the watch. And the ARF watch starts mid 2020?

Ah ok. I didn’t even think of that. This née insert may have been fitted in the last of the JF also. Good point. I’ll post a pic of the “20” to see the difference...

There was potential here to build off the JF, but alas they went backwards again. Crown guards or lack there of are atrocious, the JF was a decent base the ARF not so much, TC still reigns as king, hopefully one day someone comes along and dethrones him as I LOVE 5 digits.

Hi bud,

Could you explain what they had better done on the JF?

When looking @ your pictures I can’t notice really difference?

Hey. My point also. Hard to spot differences. It’s tiny differences I can’t see with both side by side. On a large screen blown up x50 we see the crown guards a hair shorter, lug edge has little more bevel, crystal a tick higher - but cyclops is greatly improved - and the “20” on the insert on both LV and LN. Again nothing to discourage from enjoying a true 904L classic Sub :)

I do not own a 5 digit sub. If you were to acquire your first 5 digit right now what would it be? I’m contemplating purchasing this exact ARF model. So close lol. Tell me if I’m in the wrong or in the right place!

You’re in the right place bud. If you can come across a used TC or JF on our sales section consider yourself lucky as they’re no longer made. Both were in 316L.

Beyond that, BP makes a very good 5 digit Sub in the $3xx range (see page one). Or the JF replacement which is the ARF here. Like the genuine, the ARF is the only one made in true 904L steel.

I truly haven’t had one issue with anything ARF as of yet. Tested 3 of their bracelets on a SEM machine and all came back 904L. I’m super excited to get this 5 digit!! Although it may not be closest to gen your post helped me make my decision. Thanks bro!

Here are some photos to compare to a gen late 2007 Kermit.

I think I will not change the bezel insert because there are 5 different versions B1-B5 (see link below).
https://www.watchclub.com/curated-by-the-watch-club/the-anniversary-sub-decoded

+ Movement runs very good

As mentioned above I will do the following mods to the watch:

- gen crystal
- gen date wheel
- gen rotating ring and click spring (hope can fix wobbling bezel)
- gen crown
- brushing bracelet to gen specs + oil bath
- breaking edges on the bracelet (to sharp edges)

Here are the photos (gen has the 9 on the date)
