I think that is certainly true of many reps, even good ones. The BP 15400 is not on the same level as the Exp2, Diver and 243--but I say that only because those watches are each closed backed and are true 1:1 reps. The BP 15400 is not a true 1:1 because it's 1.1mm thicker than the gen. In terms of actual feel, the finish on the components is really good. There are no sharp edges that need to be filed, sanded etc. The clasp looks great and only opens when you want it to. The bracelet feels very good. It's a nice weight it's very smooth and well finished. The bracelet and the watch had fit well even off the wrist the watch and bracelet together lay the right way. I can't compare this watch to the 14790 rep since I never had one (doesn't fit my 8.5" wrist), but even up close this doesn't look or feel like cheap watch. In fact, I think it feels more expensive than my Ultimate Nautilus (V6 factory), that cost $100 more. It also helps that the movement is super smooth on this watch.
Anyway, as I do with all me reps (except for the Diver, which was perfect as is), I did completely disassemble the watch, cleaned the mid-case, bezel, caseback and bracelet in an ultrasonic cleaner, used dry lube on the bracelet, checked the movement, put a coat of wax on the steel surfaces and put it back together the right way (after first polishing the rehaut). In my experience, most BP watches need a good once over after you get them. So, with about 2 hours of total work, the watch (to me anyway) not only looks the part of a $15k watch but also feels like one.
