SK 16200 cases

I have been paying attention to what has been coming out of S.Korean rep/aftermarket part scene. I had a connect from out there that supplied me with the most accurate open 6&9 DWOs I have seen thus far. And for many years a handful of dealers have made and sold full gold oyster cases and bracelets for models like 16018, 16238, 18038, 18238 etc on eBay and Korean rep forums. Now us Datejust fan(antics) have been bless with a much much better case than what we have been dealt for the past 10years or more. No more “OG POFY” or “Shutterland” cases for me....I think. I have already professed my undying love to this inanimate object but before I jump in the deep end and say “I do”...I have to break “her” down. Le’go!!!!

The Bezel:
Hmmm..ok! It isn’t perfect. Matter of fact..it’s isn’t correct. It kinda more appropriate for a 16000 with a plexi crystal. It’s approximately 2.0mm tall. If it were used for a 16200 or 14720 build the gasket will be exposed. For me, the bezel isn’t useless. I could keep as is and use for a 16000 build since gen smooth bezels for plexi crystals are hard to find or modify a bit and use as a 1016 bezel. Over all quality is very good. I would pay about $60 for it alone.

The Mid Case:
Jesu Kristi!!! This is what gives this MF real balls. The profile is outstanding. The lugs are fucking fantastic. They are just OMG. From the top lugs perfectly brushed at 45 degree angle to the smoothly polished sides. And guess what...it’s made for 3135 movement . No more DWO! No more rep/aftermarket hands! No more clipping dial feet!
Hallelujah!!!! My prayers have been answered. To seal it up, the back threads are cut to accept gen case backs. The stock caseback fits a gen case too.

The crown:
This is a failure IMHO. They didn’t even try at all on the crown. They actually just used the same bullshit rep 604 crown that has been going around since the early 2000s. This part was kinda disappointing. On the “half full” side of things, the tube is gen spec and fits both 603 and 604 series crowns well. Gen 603 crowns are still widely available and affordable. Gen crowns have kinda been a most for me so I guess I’m only mad because the crown has $0 value to me ????

Conclusion:
Overall...I love this case! The features I love , I can only get from a gen and they are going for almost $1k now in ok condition. The features I hate, I can easily change without mods..just a little extra cash. Everything is plug and play to gen spec. I was able to source a few to test drive for $350 each plus s&h. Yeah I know...they aren’t cheap but I think its kinda worth it when you compare the quality of Chinese 16200 rep cases (from Ken/Riyi/Raffles and the time and effort to get to them right) Vs. the cost of a gen case.

Very interesting. I always had mind for 5 digit datejust build maybe I can build one out of this case.
Were you able to confirm with Korean supplier if they can engrave between the lugs before shipping it out?

I’m very interested in the open 6&9 DWOs that you mentioned. Any pics/info on where to source them?

Also, any chance you know how much these will run? Obviously much cheaper than gen but are they still pretty costly??

You can see it has a notch between the lugs, i imagine to fit a SEL explorer bracelet as it was advertised as an explorer case.
I'm pretty happy with the finish, exept for the crown that is shitty as it was said before.

You can see a gen crystal on some pictures, it fits well.
My bezel is 2.3mm tall, so it should be flush with crystal ? I'm not sure but is gen gasket 2.3mm for datejust?

Oh, and the craftman told me that he will be working next on a sub or gmt case, 5 digits

I think an SEL bracelet for 114270 will fit. The case seems to be more of the early 2000s DJ/ Explorer. The lugs are so robust, hence why I built the roman DJ with a 604 crown & a 295c w/LEC

Is your bezel aftermarket? For the same Korean supplier?

Anyways, I noticed with DJs I have to use a weird 2.6mm crystal gasket. That what clears the hands well and gives the proper date mag. But I think with you using a 3130/2 movement in the explorer you should be fine with a 2.3mm gasket, if not a 2.5mm gasket will still be ok since it has no cyclops issue to deal with.

I bought the one from the ebay link that was posted here, and used the supplied bezel. I pressed a gen crystal with a 2.3 gasket and it fits well, but i haven't been further yet (i still wait for a set of hands)

Do you think rolex gen parts will fit in that case? (fluted bezel, crown and caseback?)

Crown (and you should replace the stock one)and bezel fits (and clone 3135). I haven't tried a gen caseback but stock one is ok

I have this Korean 16200 case and it is amazing. No more headaches from reshaping Raffles Datejust cases, and no more elevated bronchitis risk from dremel-ing the hell out of the Raffles Datejust caseback in order to shoehorn a vr3135 inside.

So far, i can confirm the following parts fit:
1. VR3135 (although I think it is best that you use 3135 gen-spec case screws. The typical ETA case screws didn't fit, for me at least.
2. Gen 603/604/ ARF 604 crown on the stock case tube
3. Gen crystal
4. Gen bezel

Raffles Datejust caseback does not fit the Korean 16200 case and vice-versa.
