A guide to 16613 builds /FRANKENING

The 16613 is one of my top 3 Rolex favorites. Luckily, you were kind enough to provide a guide for the ones of us that hope to work on a big project in the distant future! Thank you @QueTip (& @yllekp) for materializing hopes and dreams :smildzor:

I just finished a 16613 build for a friend here. Came out amazing.

It is a new startime 3135 case and a new startime solid 18k bezel. Real insert, real dial, real hands, real datewheel, real crystal lec/ar, real crown and tube, WM9 bracelet and a serviced yuki 3135. I also got to build my 16610LN today. Got my 3135 from Mike. 90% all brand new 3135 parts. Main plate and a few others were used. New parachrome balance. Amazing.

So now I have 2 complete rolexes that I built. Lol. Here is my collection minus a 16610LN that is in my safety deposit box. My store brought 16613 is going there tomorrow. That is the one on the right in this pic.

I did trades and sold my 1680 and 16800 and 5513 and 16520 to friends and other watch collectors. I also ordered another 5513 case from jensen. I have a 1520 movement ready to go and a bracelet and a crystal and a insert and a dial. I need a Rolex crystal ring and bezel. That is it. Good times. Have I said how much I freaking love this hobby?

A few used parts that you can't buy new like a main plate. Today he gave me a movement that sparkles and runs amazing. I have 2 dials so I used one that has a few scratches. To see if I can see them. I can a little. But it is fine for now. I also used my used 16610 non LV hands. Because it is just a throw together watch for now. I want to make it an A serial number build. With a SWISS dial.

You want to hear some really good stuff? I was speaking to Jensen today. I ordered a 5513 case with modified crown guards and aged. He told me that they are working on a 16600 case! OMG. I never got into them. But he brought a real one and is repping it. Valve and all. Cant wait.

Current build status.
Gen dial, insert, bezel, crystal, crown, gen tube, DW, hands, TC case, SH3135 pulling from the JF16610LV, and crap BP bracelet (hopefully finalizing getting a wm9 now actually though) - have an Everest blue strap enroute as well. Gen crown, hands, bezel not pictured but enroute.

This is becoming my favourite thread on RWI However you still cannot beat the Two Tone thread in Eyecandy in my biased opinion lol. If your wallet is too heavy check out the thread for inspiration to lighten the heavy wallet burden.

Really? Never seen them with a black ring on the inside. I have a few and never seen that. One seen them in the Startime ones. Learn something new everyday.

The one with the black ring on the inside IS gen. It has the open 6 and 9 and they are actually very rare to find for the 3135 because open 6 and 9 was on the 3035 movement so it must have been a very short transition period that they used these for 3135. Its a really nice part to have on hand if you are building an older model Rolex using a 2836 movement because you can use it as an overlay

Just look at the font - so crisp! Definitely gen.
