It seems gen has variance in dial markers as well. For the unboxed dials, it looks to me the more recent examples have fatter lume application than the earlier ones, which makes the marker look fatter. I feel like the 2013 and 2015 example shown here compare quite similarly to the Buff V3, although the Buff dial color could use a bit more green. If you go to the original post in this thread for that reddit link, the SW markers are noticeably narrower than the gen in comparison. Unless this "NEW SW" version that Ac1013 is talking about improves on that.

I am on trip now. Can take some shoot later .
5711 dial i do not sugguest buff anymore.
For BLUE get SW NEW or VVS, for GREEN get ODM . I also got pics of ODM vs buff which can upload later.
Basically buff is crap compare to those two.
Also warning the NEW buff datewheel batch. Its bullshit. the new factory printed the numbers not aligned, i mean like double digit dates the same date number is not aligned. And not all date align center. Its wrost then the sw dw. Ecen tho sw datewheel have wrong background color
Thank you — loop forward to it!

Stop posting this nonsense. There's something called white balance and colourgrading. Every camera, every photo, every light will have different settings and will give you a completely different hue, even from the same watch, depending on what time of day, what type of lighting etc.

This is completely useless.

My point here was to compare the dial markers and the size of the lume application through different gen versions, not dial color, but I'll have you know I did actually open all these images with photoshop and neutralized the white balance. It's why the steels are all mostly colorless. I also do have a Buff V3 installed and while I'm quite satisfied with it, I can admit it could use a touch more green.

Sorry mate, my bad. I'm so used to people posting this stuff to compare dial colours 😅

I agree with you.

Gen dials also have different variants in terms of number of gradients (a few had 14, most have 16 gradients), color (some have a stronger/ dominant shade of blue, others have a stronger green hue/ teal color) , some have roundes markers with small lume application, some are angular with narrow or wider lume applications.
I got a Buff V3 dial yesterday. In fact, the dial has only a very low green hue and only a very subtle sunburst. But in my opinion the color looks very full/deep like slightly shiny velvet and I like it (just my personal opinion).
Maybe the SW dial has a nicer, more gen like color with gen like green hue and nicer/ smaller/ more gen like gradients. In order to be able to judge this, I would have to see the two dials in real life and could not judge from pictures (NO critik, just my peronal opinoin).
My Buff V3 also looked different on the qc pics and videos than in real life. In our rep hobby, we always look very closely and much more closely than many gen watch owner would ever do. Maybe that's why we sometimes get in our own way. At least that's what I experienced for myself.
When I got the enlarged images/ pictures of my buff dial, I looked very closely at the gradients and the writing/white applied marker dots. Enlarged, the writing looked a little wonky. With the naked eye, the font (Patek letter and swiss) looks very nice, clear and sharp. The marker points are a little wonky in a few places because they were placed on the edges of the gradients, but you can hardly see this with the naked eye. Where, on the other hand, the 3 KF dilal already looks very bad (broad font) bright blue color and so strong sunburst that sometimes you can't see the hands...

@Fettekatze: does the last picture in your post show your watch with Buff V3 installed?
Did you do any case/bracelet mod and if so, which ones and may I ask by whom? I´m still looking for a good modder for a gen like case/ bracelet mod based on 3 KF.

Is the date wheel buff or keylog?

That picture is from someone with Buff dial + hands + datewheel. Not sure if they did any other mods.

I chose to just get the dial first and hoped the 3KF hands and datewheel would work out, but the lume doesn't match and the 3KF date is very left adjusted. I have the Buff hands and date on order. Should have just gotten them in the first place instead of having to wait an extra month and paying shipping twice. Here it is right now with just the dial:

It does look greener than a ZF 16202 though. Although both could use a bit more green to be more like gen. Note the massive difference in lume between Buff lume and 3KF hand lume. Anyway, getting too off thread topic, enough about the new Buff lol. Was originally going to wait until I swap in the other parts before posting in that thread.

Actually the new sw barely have any green hub. Which is correct for box dial.
The buff v3 color is good imo. Just the whole dial plate is shit. The stripes are way too fat. I know there is fat and skinny version of gen . But buff is just not fat enough or not skinny enough. And if you mention about fatter markers , yes it exists, but fatter markers are sharp in gen not rounded.
In real life , sw really does look more gen overall then buff.

Thanks for the pics bro. Based on this and the buff dials I’ve had and currently have, I think I still prefer buff. This “ODM” dial looks too blue to me at least.

Also the ODM markers are not rounded enough.

Gen green dial does look a bit blue in some angle. Just like the green hub on blue.
And gen green doesnt have as rounded markers . 😂

Agreed that the gen green dial has sharper markers than previous iterations, but (having only seen one in person) based on many pictures I’ve seen online, I still believe that buff’s colour is closer to gen, which is a rich dark green that plays with light almost as much as the blue dials. Just my two cents on it though, and personal preference is everything when it comes to reps!

You are correct, sir. Learn something new every day. The rounded markers look better anyway 😆. These gen markers look like cheap 3kf/ppf markers lol.

Thats what I thought about the later gen boxed dials from 2018.
SW blue boxed dial might maybe have the right color for this gen dial batch but the markers on the SW for boxed dial version are too rounded. Markers on gen boxed dials are square and seem to have a wither lume color, almost like 3kf markers
See pic below showing a 2018 gen boxed dial with square markers

Sw should be rep of the gen mk3 dial.
For the marker part , to be honest in real world no one really compare which dial base match which markers. And I believe there are box dial with round makers too.
Color of the lume , now all buff and sw are white. Just that the lume is strong so any light hitting it will make it glow a bit making it looks green. They are pretty white indoor light.
