We’ll I have been trying to no avail to find someone to do a 1680 vintage build for me I have reached out to a couple of people but had no response I do have two options but both are in Italy and I really only want to do that on my second build my first one I need to be bomb proof with no risk of losing my watch to customs 😂 had a close call with a Monaco bracket although I got it in the end it wasn’t a pleasant experience so if someone takes the time to read this thread and can put me onto someone ready to smash a nice 1680 bi rage sun build out the park for me I am sitting with the watch and most parts ready to rock so I put this out there to my fellow rep lovers 🥷🏻S.O.S👌

Hey thanks but I have ordered clarks crystal and the German version also plus I have ordered gen 1680 dial also a dremel drill and the vise stand all sorts of extras as I am just going ahead and doing the build myself 😂 I need to start somewhere I am going to shave the crown gaurds and drill the lug holes first I got some 1.3 cobalt peices for the dremel so should be fun and no doubt will need another 1680 watch after this one 😂 the plan is to get good at this then I will offer to do everyone’s lug holes and crown gaurds at a good rate 🥷🏻🙏

Just received my 1680 vintage subwhite and all I can say is, i am well happy as this is a perfect base for my vintage build I’m excited as I have already purchased most parts just looking for a decent dial (eBay) have some nice ones I got a raffles bracelet just waiting on delivery so not sure about the quality yet got Gen crown Gen bezel insert friction plate etc

I can understand your excitement, and whilst i don't know what factory your 1680 is from I can tell you that to my knowledge non of them are currently selling 4 digit Rolex that accept any gen parts. Up until a couple of years ago a JK Factory 1680 would take a gen bezel assembly, crown, crystal and with some minor mods a gen dial. Current cases are not going to accept anything, except maybe an insert.

so once I have all of that it’s of to (Merlix watchmaker

Good to see you changed your mind - Merlix is to watches what priests are to pre-teen choir boys.

Going to try the Clark’s crystal on this supposedly it fits ok and the crown gaurds are actually not to bad so will try using a file as in the first pic for reference as not much needs to come away from them

Trip dog the excitement cost me a few hundered qwid in parts that would never touch this watch in a million years lol so I had to start again 😂 got some good advice from Merlix and got myself a nice Monaco bracelet from Johnny Depp so next step is going to war with the dremel 😂

This should be interesting....
Wee all need to start somewhere buddy lol I worked in engineering for 6 years so got a wee bit of experience with drilling metal although it was at her majesty’s pleasure and not in eny field of industry 😂 but I’m trying and over the past few years I have watched people build these nice reps I have owned a few and sold them all now I want to do what I have often thought of but never dared tryed but hey as we all know you got to start somewhere and if at first you dnt succeed try try and try again although I’m a cocky m.f and confident as hell I think I’ll do alright but on this first one no matter how embarrassing it looks I will show my first try 😂 so stay tuned and have a nice day 🙏👍

It’s a guy thing 😂 multitasking at its finest. Hey tripdog I dedicated myself and went full steam ahead with those lugs and for a first shot at freehanding them with a (heavy) 😂 drill I think I done not bad my sanding and polishing wasn’t the greatest but I am going to do that slowly but surely over time on the watch , next is the crown guards and bezel insert for aging and reshaping 😂 as you can see I left the best for last 😂! Main thing is tho I’m loving this as a side peice thing to doo and I’m only about £1k into it and it’s been worth every penny my friend 👌👍

Lol 😂 I see how unorganised those pics look and beleive me it was only half as bad as it looks all work was carried out on the other side of the kitchen space 😂 and drilling was done on the floor I should. Have took before and after pics but only thought of the pics after I had finished .
