Do you need an adapter to fit a vr3135 into raffles 2824 case?

I have understood (but i might be wrong) that all rlx clones are not THAT reliable. Therefore i would always vouch for an eTA. But I have to say the drop in replacement withing clipping feet and alligning stuff seems interesting .... might try that at a later stage!

Sorry for replying late, i was busy last days.

However,
It's doable to fit a 3135 movement into a 36mm raffles case for 2824 with lug holes.

To give you a glue i add some pictures here,
where you can see such a case with a genuine Rolex 16200 dial on an SH3135.

The genuine 16200 dial is from 1990 and about 28mm in diameter, while the case can take up to 29mm.
(older datejust dials might be smaller!)

Note:
You need to create a 0.4/0.5mm movement holder spacer as the case bearing for the movement is slightly wider.
i used a cutted piece of plastic therfore and make use of movement clamps.
(gen movement screws don't work here)

(Have this build right in front of me & may sell it soon)

HootschiGootschi Excellent build and thank you for your insight on using the raffles 2824 case with a VR 3135.

For the movement clamps, where did you source these? I understand that Rolex part 3135-5100 is usually used to secure the 3135 to the case, but I am wondering what clamps and screws you used as you say gen movement screws won't work.

My raffles case without lug holes. After I tried to put it together and ruined almost everything :p logixa was able to save it from death!

I'm very happy with it and will attempt a second try in the future myself.

Will be looking for a nice two Tone bracelet now! Any suggestions?

HootschiGootschi Can i ask you what bracelet you used on the 16200 you sold? I have one from raffles but i find it a bit lightweight. Im having trouble with finding a more heavy (gen spec) braelet for it. Any tips? Thanks in advance!

Cant use a gen dial with the raffles holes case for 2824 as it uses a 29mm dial and gen dials are 28mm. Your choice is using a raffles 2836 no holes case for 28mm dial. It can take a gen bezel for 162XX models(thicker bezel for sapphire models not the thinner one for 160XX plexi crystal models) and also a gen 603 crown (again gen crown for 162XX models with thinner stem and not to confused with the crown for older 160XX models) will fit on tube without any modification. Logixa good to see you again on forums, Cheers_J

Here is build with raffles case, gen bezel and gen crown. Case is heavily modified by me.
Zyc7mX.jpg

Weird tho the site says the 2824 takes 28-29 and that the 2836 takes 28.5 - 29mm dials.

Hey I want to reopen this thread because I’m doing the same project. Can you share some more info on your movement spacer and the movement holders you used? That’s the last piece of the puzzle for my build. Thanks in advance!

this thread is very interesting. I learned a lot of stuff.

One thing that absolutely confuses me is fitting a clone 3135 in the raffles datejust 2824 case:

On one hand pompompurin says that it is possible albeit requiring some serious elbow grease: https://forum.replica-watch.info/fo...st-16200-36mm-gen-dial-hands-date-disc-vr3135

But here, HootschiGootschi says that it worked fine without any issue. So what is it? Is there a new iteration of raffles case that now supports the 3135? https://forum.replica-watch.info/fo...‘s“-datejust-16200-build-with-gen-dial-vr3135

To avoid any confusion, this is the case I'm talking about: https://rafflesdials.com/rolex-sign...4-or-nh35-movement-and-dial-in-28-0-29-0mmmm/

Thanks for your help

I was able to get a gen linen dial off eBay for $25 to experiment on and can confirm it works perfectly well in the 2824 case (I read somewhere that you have to use the 2836 case which isn’t correct). Also can confirm that the standard pinions will not work. Not only would you have to slightly bend up the minute hand to clear the indices, the hour hand would be rubbing on the dial. I’m wonder if the Raffles longer post hands offer enough clearance. Once the sites allows me, I’ll add some pictures of me adding dial feet; I didn’t take any pictures of fitting it in a case unfortunately.

The case you linked should work with 3135.
but will need a small movement ring to stay in central Position

Is there any machining you have to do to the case? I hear the rehaut must be thinned due to the placement of the stem as well as the case back needs to be machined for the rotor to operate.

thanks!

Would a gen spec 25-295 crystal and bezel fit on the 2836 no holes case? I am thinking of a clarks crystal and and a wholesaleoutlet bezel but I am unsure if the WSO bezel is any better than the stock raffles case. Also what would be the correct gen-spec gasket height for the crystal 2.7mm?

I would assume it would fit. I can confirm this at a latter time as I have this case on hand with a genuine dial.

Off the bat, the tube is gen spec. As a 5330 tube fits it just fine. So gen crown is possible.

I also wanted to share gasket height. When I swapped the Raffles bezel for a gen engine turn one, the gasket was too high. The easiest way to fix this was to simply sand down the gasket. This 2836 build was my first ever build and was a simple budget build so I didn’t bother getting a better crystal like I am with my current 2824 build.
