So far I've collected:

- Gen bezel
- Gen insert
- Gen crystal
- Gen crown
- Gen hands
- TC v4

To come are:
- Gen 3135
- Gen dial, when I find one I like
- aftermarket crystal retainer, bezel spring, click spring

To give you some perspective entry level 1993 sub here is 5k I'm well under that and did not want to buy a complete sub from overseas so I'm happy. Just the case decision to be made - TC or Sean

There was a similar build over at RWG

A 3135 is bucks, like 1500-2000. Ridiculous to fork down that much money and it is still a rep. You rbuild will cost 3000+. Keep it real, my franken is at 1000 cost and that is nucking futs if you think about it but come on, who is going to pull your crown and wind your watch.

If you have your heart set on that project, I would use a sean case in all honesty.

BTW to get your list has
aftermarket crystal retainer, bezel spring, click spring

If you bought a v4, it came with a bezel and crystal retainer etc

Sean case it is then, are they sold out? Also what is Sean like to deal with?

I have debated the movement time and time again but I think im set on it, im going to do one franken build and then wear it to death.

Ive read a lot about the TC v4 not being able to fit a gen bezel without a gen/aftermarket crystal retainer. Anyone on here have different experiences?

I had a sean case and sold it to fidleh007 here and he may still have it, not sure he has utilized it. WHen I ordered my case abour 4 months ago, he told me he had about 8 left with no more coming, he is a nice guy. BTW it comes with a dial and if you superlume that dial it is a real nice dial. Meant for 3135.

It does not come with a movement ring to use a 2824 on it. I have a custom movement ring from fatmatt (who custom made a few rings). If you want to use a 2824 while waiting for a 3135 etc, PM me for the ring. No one has them really.

ALso, my gen insert slipped right into my TC bezel

If RSH is correct & youre spending over $3,000, I would buy a gen........over $3,000 & its still a rep, umm......GTFO! HaHa!

Imo, it would be a different story if you wanted an 18kt solid yellow gold sub & wanted to spend like $7,000 because you are getting a precious metal that is increasing in value.........

Bezel is the ring on the watch, crystal retainer also holds the bezel

What are your costs? How about 3135

Pretty heavy on the bucks here. In HK, one could buy a gen U series for $3,500..

Hasnt cost me too much as yet, the killer is the 3135 budget is $1500 for that

I looked into buying a gen but the prices in Australia are crazy, entry level cost is $5-6k min and that gets you an early 90's sub :s if the TC fit a 3035 id opt for that but seeming TCs not sure if it does im not taking the risk. I also wasnt interested in buying a gen from overseas for that kind of money

I dont know about Australia but ebay has 4 used 3135 movements........the lowest is $2,000 for an older one but working good to a $2,500 one which works in excellent condition & they are all used............

I did look at ebay, I saw one that looked quite old, had a very yellow date disk with open 6 and 9's and from what ive read they stopped making that style in the early 90's so chances are it would be 22 years old at minimum

I would buy one of those and sell the movement and use a TC movement ring and 2824 and call it a day - you have a gen watch with a swiss eta movement, talk about cheap servicing there after !

Wow thats pretty good, you would not get one here in the UK for under about $5,500, a good one would cost you around $6,000 at today's exchange rate.
