Pin sharp, nice work. Which printer are you using?

An Epson 830 Artisan. However I've found the secret to be in the print settings. I installed and tried several different drivers for the printer before finding one that had a sufficient amount of settings. I'm planning on uploading a tutorial later today with my settings included if that would be of interest

Dials have disappeared after the hack, here they are again for those who need it.
These dials and roulette were made for my projects, their dimensions may not be suitable for yours. Note that the 6538, 5512, 6542 and 1675 dials have been designed respecting the gen chapter ring 26mm diameter.
Good luck !

I’m late to the party on this one... but am looking for advice on water slide decals. I have a vintage Rolex Explorer 5500 project, I’ve printed waterslide dials and they come out great BUT the black colour is not great. When it is on the brass dial, the brassy base colour of the dial beneath the decal shows through - great for the gilt lettering etc, but it makes the dial look a browny coffee colour. I know some members like that for their vintage dials - but I’d prefer a black dial to be black. Any advice here? Is it likely to be the paper? And if so, can anyone recommend a quality slide decal paper (cleat)? It looks good on the backing but when it’s on the dial the colour seems ‘thin’. I’m putting plenty of lacquer in to fix it and the detail seems fine so it is not running. Any advice would be welcome.

I used this Kodiak paper and got pretty good black depth. Inkjet is supposed to give deeper blacks than laser. Also, I noticed my Canon printer has a dye-based black and a pigment-based black. Dye ink is supposed to give a deeper black but is more likely to fade over time than pigment.

Krylon crystal clear always darkens the dial to my eye, and you could try a satin lacquer to darken it even more, though that may fade the gilt details too much.

One other thing you can try is a very light coat of oil on the dial. I applied a bit of neatsfoot oil with a q-tip as a last ditch effort to save a dial, and it added tons of depth and gloss, although it has faded some since.

Just for my understanding: I take a water slide decal paper and print template on it with highest resolution like for photo printing and that’s it? Should I put some layers of spray varnish to seal it?

Many thanks jimcon11. If I can figure out the technology I'll upload a couple of pics of my work in progress though at the moment it's saying the file size is too large.
