    [OFFICIAL] RWI Tourbillon Club

    Tourbillon:

In horology, a tourbillon (pron.: /t??r?b?lj?n/; French: [tu?bij??] "whirlwind") is an addition to the mechanics of a watch escapement. Developed around 1795 by the French-Swiss watchmaker Abraham-Louis Breguet from an earlier idea by the English chronometer maker John Arnold, a tourbillon aims to counter the effects of gravity by mounting the escapement and balance wheel in a rotating cage, to negate the effect of gravity when the timepiece (and thus the escapement) is stuck in a certain position.

    In layman's terms...

Thou whom owns a tourbillon, shal own the world.

So lets see all your people with tourbillons, post them!

This is the most exclusive club on RWI. The horological equivillent of the cross and bones, the free masons, the Templar!

For those of you accepted into the club, here is the banner

Here is the code... (REMOVE THE 2 **)

Awesome idea? Does my $50 faux tourbillion count? Just kidding.

You need a badge though - something with the monopoly guy or similar - definitely a monocle.

Has anyone found a watchmaker that touches these Chinese tourbys? I was looking for one to service mine and everybody told me : no way I'm gonna touch that.

I have one, but no guarantee that he'll fix it.

Do you just need a service?

This is a club I want to join! Are we talking only 'proper' tourbys allowed?

Is there a recognised best starter model out there? I've looked at loads but the prices vary (and I'm assuming that cheap is bad!) and I suspect that so does quality...
