I have an RM strap screw driver (HT-MK9) on order from Stuvetjee.. but who else has successfully changed the straps on the rep RM-055 and what tool did you use?

i bought 2 cheap drivers one Alix, fully knowing i would have to at least debur them. turned out i had to sand the crap out of them. no dremel wheel or file was thin enough to do it.

It is easy, unscrew the screws holding the straps. Just be gentle as all of these RM screws are a bit fragile when using force or pressure.

When putting back in the strap i always lube the holes (no pun intended lol) and the screws a bit as they will screw in alot better on the titanium midcases.

Press/Push in the screws first with your finger, the put the screwdriver on top of the screw (keep it straight) turn it backwards first a lil and then start screwing it down.

If its tight, youre done. Don’t overtight or you will end up breaking the screwhead or screwdriver blades. Do not use pressure, let the screw finds its way ;)

Oh interesting, you recommend lubing the threads. What oil do you use?

I wondered if anyone's strap screws walked on them. I'm assuming you just go fingertip tight, just hitting that snug point. Whenever I don't have a specific torque value, I go snug then 1/4 turn.

Exactly that mate. You will feel when its tight :), but lots of people try to turn it even tighter.

I got bicycle chain lube which worked great.

Doesnt look bad, but the rib on front is still pretty obvious hopefully that will be fixed next. (for that price)
The ribs on this movement do not reflect at all like the ZF/APS etc. and are only that bright under a large direct light source like these pics. They can turn dark quite easily and can look pretty much invisible in the right lighting conditions like the gen

Approved my QC and thought I would share a pic as you don’t see this one either the new movement that often. I know apsf has better ntpt but this is good enough for me.

Thanks Justin.

Cheers.

Great piece man !! Actually looks like they improved on their NTPT too, the shading is a lot more irregular

I was thinking the same thing about their ntpt looking improved.but I am no expert. Ty though. I will post more when it is in hand.

Now to figure out wat Velcro or elastic strap options would suit this model.

The gray on the ceramic case of the Rep seems darker compared to the Gen. Similarly, the straps and rubber crown on the Gen are darker. In fact, the color of the Rep, including the chapter ring/rehaut on the ZF, appears off when compared to the Gen.
