Have you thought of lining the contact area with a thin layer of rubber or silicone to not scratch the screw ?
Yes, but unfortunately its too small to have it properly done. Also looked into acrylic, but teeth break easy.

But if you have a good screwdriver, you wont be able to scratch much. Or put a plastic film over the screw ;)

They charge 25cents for a plastic bag at the grocery store nowadays and I’m too cheap and lazy to get one lol.

The $35 screw driver you showed me on Ali , those are sharp aren’t they?

I’d rather wait for yours.

You can also dress them with a file like you would do for tweezers but you need a tiny little needle file to get in between the teeth. If you've got watch polishing tools you probably have the right size files or those little sanding stick dealies.
I've also made some acrylic ones as well as some resin ones, and even with the toughest resin it's just too small to have enough structure to work and they just snap

I’m guessing the real tools are made for RM and they aren’t standard tools you can just buy

Almost certainly the "proper" tools are only available to RM and anyone outside of their service or assembly center uses either the AliX drivers or custom makes their own.

I do find myself wondering if a set of these in brass would be worth it since the teeth should theoretically fail before snapping a screwhead. Probably not an issue for real grade 5 screws but definitely is an issue with whatever grade the rep screws are made of.

Makes sense. Hence why I have never been able to find a shop that carries the tools that fit.

I saw a guy here who snapped his screw and apparently rendered the case unusable somehow.

Perhaps it’d be best to use a tiny tiny bit of purple loctite when changing straps to prevent over tightening

Question for ZF owners - have you experienced any movement issues so far?

I didn’t encounter this before, but now when winding the watch from a stop the movement works intermittently and often stops altogether. When fully wound it usually takes a few taps to get going and once it starts it keeps accurate time for the full 55+ hours.
This is the same for both of my RMs, not sure where to start on this 😕

Did you fix this?
