Hey guys, I hate to be a buzzkill but these rep manufacturers are doing something illegal. They’re taking the hard earned reputation, innovation, artisanship and staggering skill sets of the Swiss people and they are ripping off their designs. Not super cool. If they get caught, isn’t it actually a good thing, morally/ethically speaking? IP theft is still theft.
The replica market is in part a response to lack of availability in the genuine market, at least for Rolex.
I discovered the replica market after not being able to walk in and buy an Explorer from the AD.
Could buy from a reseller, but there's the lack of factory warranty.
So while I can afford an original, it's essentially unobtainable.
It was easier buying a limited availability Porsche, was on a waiting list for just a few months.
I'm committed to buying genuine if the AD decides at some point I'm worthy.
Hopefully they'll reintroduce the 39mm version next year.
Why Rolex doesn't expand their production capability is perplexing.
They could produce market - 1, still maintaining high demand, and be able to make more grants from their non profit foundation.
Win win I would think.
