I don't know what that means, I'll have to take a look closer

As I have both a ZF and a HR dialed Black Bay, I'll see if I can take some pics of both of them in the sun tomorrow to show what I mean.

There wasn't a lot of good sun today, but I did manage to take a couple of good pics this evening under the florescent lights in my workshop that illustrate what I'm talking about.

This first shot is of the HR Black Bay dial. As you can see, the rectangular indice at 3 o'clock is flat. But because the dial is slightly pie pan shaped at the edge, this causes the outer edge of the indice to loose contact with the dial surface as it curves downward.

This second shot is of the ZF Black Bay dial. As you can see, the rectangular indice at 3 o'clock is curved and stays in contact with the dial at the outer edge.

So in conclusion, while HR gets the rose printed more correctly, they messed up with the shape of the rectangular indices that ZF got right. This just goes to prove what I have read here many times; there are no perfect reps.

@LifeTrekker very informative! So maybe the best is hr dial paired with zf indices

That's a brilliant solution! I was contemplating getting an HR dial with corrected rose, but i thought those flat indices would bother me even more. Can indices be shaped or would they have to indeed be swapped from a ZF dial

Definitely I would assume that indices cannot be shaped well or it would not be worth the effort

I'm now wondering how different the finish would be from HR hands to the ZF indices. I would have to assume that HR would use the same technique for both dial hands and indices. It might not even be worth getting the HR hands if we would swap out the ZF indices onto the HR dial.

Seems (in my opinion) that the HR dial/hands replacement is well into diminishing returns territory.

The current incarnation highlighted in OP is fairly close - if the HR was perfect, sure, but you're trading flaws and losing a lot of time and money in the process.

I'm put off the black bay for now. Really can't make my mind up between black and blue, and shield vs. rose. Will wait to see what the factories do and lurk M2M for now!

That has certainly been my thought. I've never tried switching out dial indices though, so I don't know how easy or difficult it is to do without causing damage. I suppose it would also make a difference where the feet for the indices are placed. If they are the same on both sets of indices and dials you would be golden. If not, you would have to find another way to afix the indice to the dial without causing damage.

Very true. The rose on my recently acquired ZF Black Bay Blue is very close. I Don't know if it's worth the effort of replacing it with one from HR just to make that very slight incremental improvement.

I don't think it's worth changing the dial or hands if you've got good qc. The watch looks great from the factory

Has anyone tried the rafflesdial or has found any reviews?
