As I have both a ZF and a HR dialed Black Bay, I'll see if I can take some pics of both of them in the sun tomorrow to show what I mean.

There wasn't a lot of good sun today, but I did manage to take a couple of good pics this evening under the florescent lights in my workshop that illustrate what I'm talking about.
@LifeTrekker very informative! So maybe the best is hr dial paired with zf indices

Definitely I would assume that indices cannot be shaped well or it would not be worth the effortThat's a brilliant solution! I was contemplating getting an HR dial with corrected rose, but i thought those flat indices would bother me even more. Can indices be shaped or would they have to indeed be swapped from a ZF dial

That has certainly been my thought. I've never tried switching out dial indices though, so I don't know how easy or difficult it is to do without causing damage. I suppose it would also make a difference where the feet for the indices are placed. If they are the same on both sets of indices and dials you would be golden. If not, you would have to find another way to afix the indice to the dial without causing damage.@LifeTrekker very informative! So maybe the best is hr dial paired with zf indices

Very true. The rose on my recently acquired ZF Black Bay Blue is very close. I Don't know if it's worth the effort of replacing it with one from HR just to make that very slight incremental improvement.Seems (in my opinion) that the HR dial/hands replacement is well into diminishing returns territory.
The current incarnation highlighted in OP is fairly close - if the HR was perfect, sure, but you're trading flaws and losing a lot of time and money in the process.
I'm put off the black bay for now. Really can't make my mind up between black and blue, and shield vs. rose. Will wait to see what the factories do and lurk M2M for now!
Btw rafflesdial sells $40 blackbay dial with fixed rose logo and it comes with hand set

Good to know! thanks
Looks like a v1 dial, correct rose logo but flat printing. Has anyone bought it yet?
