I'm quite happy with mine after 41/2 months but the crown, although duller than it was when new, still needs to be toned down a bit.

Yours looks great fchan, can you describe the process you put yours through please?

Pretty simple really... soak it in palmolive until desired color achieved.
It took a few hours sitting in it, I stirred it around every so often with a q-tip to keep things fresh and when I washed it off I used a toothbrush to make sure everything was out. A light rubbing of oil brought a small sheen to the patina which looks good IMO.

I gave the crown an extra treatment. Dipped it in the dish soap and let it sit for a while to lose the shine. Bear in mind you won't get a perfectly uniform color. If some areas are too dark you can always polish it up and try again.

Hope this helps

Hi fchan
Thanks for the tip, I'll try it on my crown and see if I can darken it a bit more.

It certainly does. [emoji106] Did you achieve this by natural process or did you use a catalyst?

Couldn't stand the shiny crown, so the watch spent 3 hrs in a food container with white vinegar (no contact with the watch case).

And then you just need to brush away any green spots.

I tried many other forced patina methods, but the vinegar got me the best color IMHO.

Mine was finally getting dark except for the crown.. so I tied the Palmolive dish soap on the crown. it just starting turning green after awhile so I washed it off and now it's shinny again. I think I used wrong one?
Perhaps while try another method now.

The Zenith star on the buckle still irks me ... its raised a little too thickly...

A bit hard to capture from my cell but it turned out nice. Takes a lot of the shine out of the crown which is good. I could probably keep doing more treatments to get it really dark but im ok with it as is

I really would like to get this patina, I think has a nice vintage look. How would one achieve this look:

gen:

I've tried the vinegar method and couple others, but I've it doesn't turn out like this nice dark brown patina,.. not sure if there are different types of bronze, but are the reps the same as gen?

I picked up a gen the other day, it was definitely a different colour to mine. Patina looked alot better. They must treat the case or leave them out for a while before assembling the watches.

The watch arrived from an M2M with a really thick green patina.

Washed it, cleaned it with baking soda and dunked it in a shallow bath with Liver of Sulphur.

Had extra care on the crown to make it shine yet its grooves dark as per gen.
