rhp, no problem, as I'm sure you know I wasn't pointing to you and I fully understand your point of view as well.

The funny thing was the title. Would you trade your car for a Rolex?? The only reason I clicked it is because I thought who in thier right mind would trade their car for a watch, LOL. But then after reading the posters story it made more sense.

I will also say that the DD or DJ models have been repped to perfection visually and in many cases are extremly difficult to know for sure if its a gen. However holding one in your hand and using it will reveal if its genuine in a matter of minutes if you know what to look for.

I also find it very funny for members of a rep board to accuse members posting gens that their watch is a rep. Reminds me of TRF where members will bully a guy into proving his watch is gen. Show me the papers, give me close up detailed shots of your watch, open the F'er up or its fake. LMAO. I've seen guys accuse others of having a fake sub LV because they believe Rolex never used diffrent shades of green or they never saw a LV with a black bezel (when infact the very first sub LVs where sold with green and black bezels) so it must be fake.:hehehe:

thank you mysterious member :cheese:

Pec, you've only got about 50 more post than me. Post whore!

And S4M....Fuggediboutit! Everything on that watch the posters were seeing wasn't gen Rolex. Its a bunch of non Rolex bling stuck on the face of a nice watch. Who cares? BTW, if you took that watch to an AD, they wouldn't service it, I'll bet.

I personally never said nor cared if it was gen. I just said I'd still trade a PT Cruiser for a decent rep. I'll stand my my original post.

Just so you have a better idea on value of the PT loser. I traded one a couple of weeks ago at my dealership in the north east for $3500 08 mileage in the 30's they are worthless. The generation who buys them is dying off quickly. Funny thread though

actually with the value of PT Cruisers vs the value of YG Rolex you got the better end of the deal. wise choice even if you just end up selling it to buy another car.

From my point of view, especially if the OP is a jeweller, this sounds low risk providing the watch is real.

He has item X, which is worth less than item Y, but someone is happy to do a straight trade. I'd bite their hand off! No, the watch isn't to my taste, but if the deal is good and checks out, the OP is in a great place to make a few bucks if he wants to, or have an asset which will appreciate more than his car.

Glad to hear the OP didn't get scammed and has a better asset than he started off with.

What he decides to do with it is up to him as far as I'm concerned.

This thread has certainly been an education...
