Would you consider putting a SS strap on a 111h?

Is the face of the 111 too classic to have a modern SS strap?

I'm thinking about it but don't want to waste my $ if it will look nasty.
Sometimes I look at the 111 on my wrist and think it would look ok, then other times I can see it destroying the 111's classic style.

Anyone tried this and could post pics?

Many thanks

I think most people realize that a PAM will look better on straps. It is so much fun wearing them with different strap every now and then. I use to see SS bracelet for PAMs going arround a $100. Now I have seen them selling for 20-30 bucks.

I have a ss band that I was wearing on my 063, but honestly its very bulky and I have many ss bands that I just prefer. I got alot of compliments on it, but I just prefer the strap.

Where do you see them going for $20-30? -> nevermind I see on ebay they are going for less the $20 alot.

Strap vs bracelet

I use a rep bracelet on my GEN 111, it took a pair of needle nose to adjust the bracelet,,, It is what you like.... I get a lot of people asking about it,,

I have over 20 Straps too...

Funny, I was talking about this... yesterday? ( to me, yesterday. Primary job is night work)

Your dam* right I would! IMHO man did not claw his way to the top of the food chain, use his brain to make leaps in technology so he could continue to wear the skin of the beasts he clubed to death.

Seriously, I think it's a matter of taste. If I like the look of the watch with the SS bracelet, it stays, if not I have my eye on the rayskin strap! :D

Besides, I have the Pam fever now ( expensive illness)! I'll will have a 199 to try it on as well, anything is better than that rubberband... ahhh, I mean strap.

Thats just my opinion. I can't see wearing a sub with a canvas strap but I've seen people with them. I really love the contrast in color and materials with the PAM style.

If you like the look, I say go for it. The beauty of a Panerai is that if you like it on S/S one day and brown leather another, you can do it and it only takes a few seconds.

I would buy the s/s bracelet from the same dealer you purchased your watch though. There are quite a few variations out there and some won't fit the watch.

My next watch will probably be a 111H on S/S.

Thanks everyone and thanks for the photos geopatr69.

I was doubting that it would look ok with the ss strap, but I can honestly say that it looks smooth.

I will definately get a strap from PT if he has one.

My only concern is that I work in a bank and quite a few Italians have a Pam and will probably call me on having a SS strap on a 111 saying that it was never released on SS.

Thanks again...The Dark Side provides yet again! :D

Even though the 111h was never released with a SS bracelet, there are many gen owners who buy aftermarket bracelets for various models that are only sold with leather straps. In fact, I was at a Panerai AD inquiring how long it would take to get a 220. He said there was a long waiting list and suggested (very discretely) that I should just get the 104 that was available and buy an aftermarket bracelet off ebay.

btw... I love the look of any modern Panerai on a SS bracelet. Gotta love the bling effect.

111 with a bracelet is a killer combo, chunky and beefy. I have a 111, 196 & 63 that I use the bracelet on. Along with 30 or so straps in the rotation, a nice change when the mood strikes...

I ordered mine on a SS bracelet because I prefer SS than leather on most watches and I am COMPLETELY satisfied with this purchase! I plan on getting another PAM and getting it on leather and possibly picking up the rubber band as well (if you haven't seen it in person it really is a beautiful strap). But this SS 111h combination gets the most comments from any of my watches because not only is the PAM a very diesel watch...but the bracelet is quite a bit larger than your average bracelet as well. And when it is shined up it just draws attention! I say get it on SS from the beginning because then you will be positive it fits and you can always buy a leather band in addition (you don't really want that rep strap anyways) and there's been issues with the bracelets not fitting exactly so I wanted to buy it that way in the beginning.

I don't personally like it, but that shouldn't stop anyone from liking the result. I would put a metal bracelet on a contemporary Panerai without a thought.

I read an interesting triva thing re: the links, Look at the curve shape in them and then look at the CG as that is what they are patterned after ...

I really never noticed that before. It's these subtle design elements that attracts so many lovers of the Panerai series....thanks for this Enzo. Got any more Pam trivia?

I like the SS bracelet look and the strap look if the straps are from TC Straps...!!!!!!!! (little plug for elliot there) I try to purchase all my Pams with the SS now. That way I know I have a bracelet that will fit... :D Wearing a Pam bracelet is not for the timid... it does add considerable weight to your watch.
But it gets down to what YOU like not what orher people like...

Pam strap vs ss

My first pam was almost a 220 with SS, I'm so glad i went with a 111h. The versatility of leather is a lot of fun. I've got a crazy horse from Greg on the way now
