Why the CHS GMT movements are failing

No solid fix yet. Glueing the wheels didn’t last very long either. Plus it means you’ve gotta advance the date by turning the hands through 24 hrs. Not fun

Anyway to order this part or will some horologist be able to machine this part?

The most reliable movement i had so far with the GMT is the 21J actually. Rest all crapped out in a couple months

The ICHS too? If yes, my GMT ambition is dead :(

I am led to believe dg2813 is a "native" GMT movement, so I bought my 3 with this movement (hand stack does not bother me), none of them have had any problems whatsoever. Correct hand stack on a non working watch is not much use !

This moment when you have already turned the crown 288 hours and you realize you have set the date one day to much, because today is the 17th and not the 18th ...Fuuuu!

Hahahaha.

And to the others, the ICHS is much better but only as much as any Asian ETA clone (no worse). ETA makes the 2893 GMT which is a true Swiss GMT and a solid choice. A Yuki 3185 Hybrid is ~$1k and as good as it gets without going fully gen. So there are options.

i was avoiding 21J coz of the lower vph, it was a far cheaper option to get brand new as well. although above post spoke the truth, CHS on a non-functioning watch is useless.

i think my other worries were the quality of the watch apart from the movement. the noob CHS was best of its class as far as appearances go. But it's incredibly frustrating now to have a broken watch! Insta-regret!

Can the ETA 2893 GMT straight swap the asian 3187 in the noob v7?

seems a lot of the newer 3187 movements arent having issues. ive yet to tear one down to see if they beefed up the spring or what they did, but so far, ive had a half dozen come through that didnt have issues, and they were all purchased in the last couple months.

is it possible to just purchase the 3187 movement? just need a fully functioning one, get it swapped out by a willing watchsmith, chuck the watch on my winder and never ever have to worry about a bad dateset ever...

This thread is really helping me a lot, Now I have to considered which model should I go for ... really like the look of 16710 but it's seems to be a time bomb.

Thank you for the information

I have a 2893, sitting in my toolbox. I had two watchmakers give up on making it work in my bp 116713. do you know how to install it without getting new hands? also, my guy couldn't source a green gmt hand, it was red.

I've been using mine very carefully and touch wood it's fine. I was advised back in this thread not to use the jumping hour.

do these issues apply to all REP GMT, or just the Rolex Master II? I just ordered a Breitling Navitimer World and am curious if I may encounter the same problems.
