Why the CHS GMT movements are failing

What are the options if the SA3135 movement breaks? Is it an easy upgrade to SH3135 or does the upgrade require new parts (hands, etc)?

Definitely need hands and I am pretty sure Dial, unless you are very handy at adapting feet. Great part is that the SH will take Gen hands and dial.

has there been any reported issues when setting the date?

Is the date on the first crown position on the rep?
There is no quick date set. You have to cycle through jumping hand for quick date set, but dont do it.

Keep it on the winder and use the minute hand if you have to.

I have 3 CHS (polar exp, batman, blnr) blnr jumping hour hand is unreliable (slips after 1 12 hour cycle) but timekeeping is fine on all 3.

I will say that the clearance on second hand is really tight between crystal and second hand. Mine was stopping intermittently and I thought the movement died but I raised the crystal a tiny bit and now its all fine. Check this before confirming any movement is dead - it might just be the second hand stuck against the crystal.

None as this is based on the 2824. The jumping hours from the 3185 is too thick.

Excellent analysis Tickleshoes !!
I have one question for you, mine has the following problem , everything runs well until I completely screw in the crown.
When this is done the 12 hour hand "lags" behind as if there is some strain on it until it becomes totally misaligned with the minute hand (in other words for example it doesn't move to the position which is exactly in the middle between two hour markers when the minute hand is at 30 min). Once I release the crown to the winding position, the hour hand "jumps" forward to the correct position. This is not due to the stem lenght as I have tried shortening the stem and it still happens. What could it be ? This is driving me crazy, because otherwise the movement seems to work well.
Thanks in advance for your insight.

Thanks for the info! Are there any members that absolutely have no issues with these movements? Like a better batch of production or is everybody suffering? If so, I let the watch go back and ask for refund...

@Tickleshoes I was literally going to pm you earlier today and ask if you had any updates on this issue. Thank you for the elaborate write up and explanation, much appreciated. I hope the factories read this especially since these are definitely not cheap reps

Damnit. Reading this thread scares me.
I just picked this up today: https://www.intime01.co/rollie/3271...ob-best-edition-a3186-correct-hand-stack.html

Ticklishness, Would you recommend I message Ryan and just get an ICHS version with more reliable movement? Honestly? I don't want to have to ship this thing back after a few months after spending $400.

So just to clarify, if you can only use the 1st and 3rd winding position, because isn't the first position only to wind? Is it still possible to get a perfectly accurate GMT hand, hour, minute, and date? Obviously I'll rarely be changing the time. But what do you recommend?

I'd get the ICHS personally, and I've been wanting one for a while...the movement issues in the CHS have kept me away as they are not fixable from everything I read and no parts are available for the CHS GMT module should it break. @Tickleshoes I'm sure can offer a more experienced opinion.

You could get lucky and have the thing run perfectly for years. The problem is that to quick set the date you need to "jump" the hour hand 24 times. Each time is like Russian roulette with that weak spring between the gears. I locked them together for Hitman but there is so much play in the gears that I could not for the life of me get the hands to line up afterwards. Frankly it's a mess. I'd stick with the IHS.

I sent Ryan at intime.co an email trying to see if he could swap my order for the ICHS 2836 movement since that seems to bea little more trusted and reliable. Let's hope someone gets the email quickly enough.

Glad I saw this. Thanks for your input guys.

Is the hand stack that noticeable unless you're really looking for it? I'm sure you've got to be right up on it.

I have got a good working chs movement after the second attempt... before I had the a2836 ichs version and it started bitching after 2 years, so I personally can't recommend any of them...

A2838 should be quite reliable.

Im on the same fence . Leaning towards the 2836 with IHS . . My only concern is the quality of the rest of the watch-bracelet, bezel, markers, etc I'm not overly concerned with the HS Haven't gotten any confirmation from anyone about the quality comparison between the 2 . I emailed Ryan as well ..

Anyone reading this have an answer ?

As far as I can tell (and I've seen both), the only thing that has changed is the movement and hands. Everything else is the same.

its the exact same watch, except for movement and hands.

Also, as i was trying to figure out a way to solve this 3186 problem, i discovered the 2836 GMT (Hangzhou 6460) uses the exact same spring as what is found in the 3186 clone. the difference is the gear teeth that this spring is on are slightly smaller and therefore cause less outward force and you dont see as many snapped springs in there. I swapped the spring out of a 2836, that had been running fine with no issue, and put it in a 3186 that had a broken spring, and within 12 hours, that spring is broken again.

I have bought a couple of the Rolex Jumping Hours modules to see if i can rig something up to work in the 3186 clone, as well as bought some micro springs to assist this weak spring in the 3186 clone. I'll report back once the parts arrive and I can test it out.

any updates on a fix for this?

are ppl still destined to have $400 paperweights once the quick hour hand gives way with no recourse?

mine datewheel is stuck, rotating it on an angle i notice it's broken or came lose as i can see the dates, 17 and 18 falling in and out of sight depending on the watch's orientation in my winder. The hour hand would slip and get stuck once it reaches 22-23hours (1-21 hour revolutions are fine) and when i use the 2nd position quick hour/date set, i can still move the hour hand albeit unstable to reset the clock back to 12am so I can get another 22 hours out of the watch before it gets stuck again.

can anyone please advice? this is my first rep and an incredibly harrowing experience. Wonder why I never noticed these threads until after i bought the watch and hunting for solutions. CHS is fairly important to me so I don't regret not getting ICHS with a more reliable movement.
