I can’t figure out why someone having a gen would post a rep in a gen forum.
I think this is more about someone seeing OP’s name on a rep forum and assumed the watch he posted can’t be anything but a rep.

That 116618 posted with the tag looks gen to me..

I have a couple times because some members of the gen community say they can spot a fake and the tells are easy. Most can't pass the test and of course on the gen forums just mentioning reps or the links to show the quality of modern reps gets a warning.

My intent was to tell these gen guys they really need to start taking closer looks at the rep to prevent a Horology House fiasco. Nothing could be more gut wrenching than paying 15k for a watch,box and papers that is worth 700 dollars.

it is tough being able to appreciate both rep and gen watches. at least the rep world does not think just because I am associated with gens I would scam them. The same can't be said of the gen guys. Being associated to reps on a gen forum makes you a bit of a pariah. I understand why but when you really just want to help people in each side of the aisle. I guess it would be like a Democrat who says something nice about President Trump, lol!

Yeah should have been clearer, was talking about someone owning gens trying to pass off reps as genuine on gen foras.
However you got exactly my point! Our community has generally MUCH more knowledge about both gens and reps than the guys there.

No need for extra tags. I saw your post on TZ proving it was in your possession and I saw how they "proved" it was fake. If the experts here need more photos they will ask for them. I do not need them.

That truly looked like a witch hunt to me, I hope other members of RWI read it and can empathise with what it feels like when they dogpile new members here and jump to conclusions. This behaviour sickens me here never mind on other fora.

C Master - THANK YOU! You would not believe how important that comment is to me. Like a weight lifted! I have been made to feel like a complete low life the last 48 hours and a witch hunt is indeed the best expression for this. Some of the messages I have received are absolutely vile and have had me and my pregnant wife worried sick!
This is not on and I am glad that I have finally proved myself. Once again - Thank you so much for believing in me. It has been a very stressful 48hours for me and I am glad I am near to drawing a line under this and hopefully continuing my favourite hobby here. Best regards.

If anyone is questioning why I suddenly went silent on the TZUK forum thread that I started about this genuine gold submariner 116618lb - well I think most people would have too when you start receiving messages like I did - I won’t post them here as don’t want to lower the tone.

I felt that by continuing to comment would only antagonise people further. And like with many weak minded forum people - it’s “easier to throw petrol on a fire than try to put it out!” I find that with forums people just go with the majority and the minority chime in with some level head thinking....but it is the minority that go far in life.

cookie88888 hey mate, sad times to see you in here. I would honestly be bricking it too if i ended up in the brig, especially for something you didn't do. Also you didnt tell me you were sitting on a couple of solid gold subs, well played sir! Im sure this will all get sorted out soon and things can get back to normal. As many people have already said its a shame the gen forum guys think they know all about reps. If they did the horology house incident might not have happened. I think the setup here is much better, anyone posts something inaccurate its called out in all of 10-15 minutes. I really think this is the best forum on the net. Hope things work out for you!

Thank you Cmaster. I really do appreciate the mods have protocol and I totally respect that you are all no doubt working hard behind the scenes regarding this. You guys are what keeps us all safe and I can’t thank you enough for that. (I’m sure everyone agrees with me there, I urge everyone to respect this forum and contribute more to the forum with ££ once in a while). Once this is done and dusted and my name is in the clear i would like to make a contribution to the forum as a thank you for sticking by me and hearing me out - and not putting me in the dumpster like they did on TZUK!!!!

What annoys me is that I reckon maybe 33 percent of members on TZUK own reps and gens.

I am starting to feel a little bit more normal now, as you can imagine I have been sick with worry for 48 hours - good for the weight loss though (I had gained a few pounds during lockdown, but haven’t we all?!)

So many rep forum members become aggressively anti rep community when they’re on gen forums. Quite sad actually.

Mix-ups like this happen in life from time to time.

Thank you Mech500. I have handled it as honestly and as efficiently as I could (despite it literally, physically and emotionally draining me of 48 hours of my life).

Yes true, but this has been the worst experience of my life, and through no fault of my own. I would hate for anyone to go through what I have been subjected to for the last 2 days.

Quite frankly it is not. That's is why our Dark Side of the hobby has it's unbreakable rules that trailboss99 have mentioned. It's been proven over and over again that GEN crowd is not as forgiving as the Dark Side is. Don't blame the game, hate the player that breaks the rules. They are set in stone and once you've joined the RWI crowd you signed your consent and promised to adhere to ALL THE RULES of The Dark Side. That's why the shit show on TZUK resulted OP being brigged here. OP seems to be clearing out the situation with help of the mods here and TZUK but let this be a warning to all of you, itching for that one attempt to break the rules and post those reps on GEN forums - you will get caught and execution will be swift and painful as OP is your witness. Rules are there, for the benefit of all of us - to keep both worlds happy, GEN and REP owners alike.

Great news cookie. I too had encountered this issue when i joined a local gen forum crowded with "veterans" years back. I had then purchased a 2nd hand gen pam 111 and was excited to post it, being a newbie with only a few posts, i was met with suspicion and doubts. Instead of saying nice watch, i was asked for shots of the back movement straight up lol
