Why are we paying astronomical prices?

The biggest reason they cost as much as they do is for the guy to swim them across the Pacific Ocean and run them to your house. The actual watch is like $60 bucks maybe $75 for the Daytona. They’ve got plenty of guys willing to make that swim with our new immigration policies so hopefully the prices will be coming down.

@Elliot Black is someone we brought on board to help address some of the inflated prices.
We are open to others who can offer the quality of service we expect for our members.

The problem is that some of these non trusted dealers (I use some too) is that when we examine them for admittance to RWI, their websites are full of genuine watch photos. Even if the prices are good, how can we allow someone who does this access to our members? This happens 90% of the time.

You're not going to are you, if someone is willing to fake photos, who says he's not willing to fake what he sells?
We all know there are fake Clean and Fake VSF out there, that needs to be guarded against and I think the members here understand, know and are grateful for the insane amount of effort put in by the staff here.

It might appear to the outsider that we're being "clicky" and annoyingly over careful about "fake watches" but that's 'cause they don't understand the difference between a real latest version Clean GMT with a Deep Crystal and a Xing bezel insert and a €60 piece of junk with it's GMT hand attached to its hour hand, have you seen those? Funny, and fine if it cost you €60 on holiday in Turkey. Not fine for $450.

I'm stunned at the community here. To all the staff, my hat is off, stand up and take a bow.

Never, that's why we haven't brought them on. There have been two times in the last couple years we brought someone on service related only to have members uncover some shady dealings so we kicked them off.

The lot of you need to be Asian to do math ;)

It's like I have always told my customers over 35 years in business, (if ever asked which is very rare) ..........
"I put a 50% mark up on every component I sell" ..........

So they pay £200 for lets say a Gear Set which I paid £100 for ................... "Simples" as the Meerkats and my Accountant would say :ROFLMAO:

Every business has to have a mark up ;)

I'm as dumbstruck as a few of you guys appear to be here, it's all about exactly where you buy from ....................

Don't forget everything I buy for my business carries a "Trade Discount" to me, normally at 50% OFF Manufacturers RETAIL, so my customers actually get sold the part for their car at that car brands Main Dealers parts dept retail price, if they want to check with say Arnold Clark Mercedes in Inverness, they will be quoted the same price within pence of what I have charged them.

I do not fit factors parts, most is cheapo shite these days and fails in short order. I don't work on cheap shit brand cars very often either.

I buy direct from the car manufacturers PDC (parts distribution centre) at 50% OFF THAT BRANDS Retail price, regular Billy Bunters cannot do that. The more I buy each year the better the discount tier.

I am certain the Replica Watch Dealers aren't buying the watches at the same kind of margin, and the more they buy the cheaper they get them.

When I was selling reps way back in the day myself and A.N. other got way better discounts by buying 1000 pcs at a time direct from factory and splitting the haul 50 / 50. Back then we were paying £40 a unit and selling for circa £200, and they were every bit as good as the £300 to £400 pieces of today.

Different business model, a B&B, of which there are many up here, they buy Toilet Rolls, Food, Toiletries, Shower Gels, Tea bags and Coffee sachets etc from wholesalers, surely no -one believes that a business is buying at retail and having a tiny, if any mark up ???????????????

I'm not debating buddy, just trying to clarify why I use the percentages from retail method.

I'm just not sure my first few posts on this subject came across as they were intended, one of my troubles when typing replies is I know excatly what I mean to say, but whenever I try to explain things it often come out wrong ;)

Dave I think what you are referring to mate is gross margin and not mark up

£100 + 50% mark up is £150

£100 item sold at £200 = 50% gross margin

Hence my gif reaction

And just to clarify

Percentages aren’t really accurate in this game

The rep business is not based on a profit margin of any sort, some might make the same on a $250 watch as they will on a $600

I myself have a set minimum that I would like to achieve per piece.

I do have a day job, it’s not as much as you might think it is.

I wish I'd asked you first N, I typed out all that other shit trying to explain, when 2 words would do :ROFLMAO:

That is of course exactly what I was referring too, I just couldn't remember exactly what my accountant called it, my short term memory is really fucked these days
