Many Non-TDs offer a "insurance" like the TDs. No Allianz ;-)

Yes, but they are not covered by this community's protection.

It's been said before: Non-TD sources are absolutely fine for the experienced "professionals" among us.

The TD system is what makes rep purchases safe for our noobs though.

Trying to score a 30% discount with a Non-TD is one of the scenarios that end in noobs getting scammed.

Therefore, TDs have always had and will remain having their own justification!

I honestly don't understand threads like this one.

Why not just use a Non-TD and be happy? Why is there any need to shit on our TDs with big words and fake outrage? I honestly don't get it...

Because OP said that insuring the parcel costs him not more than 5% or something like that. The insurer (a company like Allianz, for example) will replace a lost shipment, but there will be no restitution for a seized counterfeit product.

Nope. The shipping agent of the Non-TDs charges 5% insurance for all losses (incl. customs). So technically not the buyer but the Non-TD buys this insurance for the shipping agent.

Yeah, okay. 🙄😂 But regardless of who pays, this doesn't cover border seizures for illegal contents of the shipment. Or does it?

That's my actual point. 😆

Good points. However, there are several benefits to buying from TDs. Some are willing to pay more to make sure they are getting what they want.

I got into the rep game recently. I had no idea that quality of the reps has become so good. My purchases so far have only been limited to Daytonas, Aquanauts, and Royal Oaks. A rep costs anywhere from 1 to 3% of the market values of those gen models. And I probably get at least 95% of the satisfaction wearing them. So I think the prices overall are more than fair. I actually pay a little more than buying from TDs since I get them from a seller here in the US. I just don’t want to deal with custom risks.

Not astronomical but much higher than what you should pay. It's the price of the translation in English and seeing a beautiful website with technical data for each watch. At the beginning, I used TD. Now I order with Pandabuy from well-known Weidian or 1688 sellers if I want an insurance.

I'm shakin' ma heed in disbelief, I buy from all over the board, buy from who the fuck ya like, no need to bash TD's, just remember there is no such thing as a free lunch / cheap car ..............

Why drink water when there is perfectly good Beer in the Beer fridge 😉

I often wondered how much or how little TDs make on a watch sale. So if someone orders the standard Submariner for $500, the dealer makes $100?

I find that super fair, really, given the risk he or she takes in regard to legal exposure, lost or confiscated shipments, or buyers who in the end complain about an issue.

I don't know any fly-by-night vendors, but I'll gladly pay $500 for a top-quality replica at a time where banged-up Seiko divers cost more on eBay and Chrono 24. Yes, reps got more expensive lately, but so did everything else, from food to rent to hookers. Plus, the quality has improved as well.

I’m pleasantly surprised at how much better reps are looking recently. It sounds like movements are improving too. As long as these hold true, I’m okay with the price increases
