the 177l is pretty fantastic.
incredible case, dial, cg, cb, cp, all those abbreviations!
they stuck that sort of sub-par movement in a very, very nice package, and for
a very nice price to boot, I love mine, can't wait to get it back from Katt.

That sounds great!
I´ll order mine tomorrow. :)

Do you know anything about the Daylight?
Lets say I buy a Daylight as well along with the PAM177.
What movement should I go with?
The 7750 or the 7753? There´s a $120 price difference between them!
Is the 7753 worth the extra $120?

yes, the 7753 is worth the difference. I just bought a daylight too, I opted for
a white faced one, I love the white faced pams. I originally wanted the 118h, but
the 251k is actually much closer to gen, so I went with that.

the old 7750 version has many things inferior to it, and it'll never really be able
to match the quality of the 7753 version. I'd say it's worth every penny for the
price difference. I think lay has them at $308 each on strap and $328 each on
the incredible band they come with. Get the stainless steel band!

the 7753 factory made an all new band that the gen ss band Panerai owners say
is 99.9% indistinguishable from the gen band. if you don't like it, sell it. it's worth
far more than the $20 extra it'll cost you.

I see you're looking at the black faced ones... I strongly suggest the 236k, sell the band
if you don't like it to someone like me :) below is a comparison for your assessment:

It's been awhile since I did a review and this one was pretty hard to do. Honestly as I was uploading pics I could not tell which was the rep and gen  ...this rep is that good. Thankfully I didn't mod the crown pin as it was a good give away however once this easy mod is done it's going to be a killer. This watch and the 188 came from my buddy Toro (btw - super fast shipment, great service and QC :)) but all the other dealers Josh, Andrew, Sead, etc...sell this watch.

The 236 or 250 (without ss bracelet) is one of my favourite pams. I was fortunate to pick up a gen earlier this year. The version I have is the "i" which I believe was released 2005/6 and the rep (that is being compared) is the "k" version which was released in 2009.

The biggest difference from gen "i" and "k" are the following;

- the 236i has lug cut outs as seen in this pic
IMG_6943.jpg

- the 236k does not have lug cut outs however it has lug/bar quick snap pusher as seen in this pic
IMG_6944.jpg

- of course the 236i does not have roller lever and the k does :)

Now that we know the differences between the "i" and "k" let's move on to the comparison between the REP "k" version vs. the GEN "i" version. Please note the gen is always on the left and rep is on the right.

IMG_6926.jpg

Looks pretty close...3 very minor items 1) the lever pin on the rep could be flatten...a very easy fix 2) the DW on the gen is a tad bolder 3) silver pin color on the subdial on the gen and black on the rep

IMG_6928.jpg
IMG_6929.jpg

IMG_6932.jpg

The crystal on the rep has a very slightly purple tint.

The caseback - the engraving could be shaper and deeper

IMG_6940.jpg

The side date adjuster
IMG_6961.jpg
IMG_6960.jpg

How flush is the DW you ask...please judge for yourself ;)
It's about a hairline difference from the gen. IMO it's great and no one can tell - even with both on hand to compare.

Overall -IMO this is the best out of the box pam out there and for the price it's a no brainer. I'll get the CP flatten/polished soon and besides that it's all it needs.

Thanks for looking guys :cowboy:

and I'm pretty sure they fixed the one glaring problem on the rep:
the chrono hands, where they attach to their shafts, should be silver, not painted black.
I think the newest reps they factories have released have this silver, as per gen.
super fantastic rep, I love my daylight.

I don´t seem to find the strap update, though.

Is this the same watch?

This is the 236k on Lay's site

your link was the proper 196, I'd go with the bracelet in the above link though.

_DSC0061.jpg

this is the right one from Hont.
236k 7753 new daylight factory.

I don´t get it...
The one in my link, is that another watch? Not the same model?
Does Hont have the 236K? Do you have a link to it?

Hmmm... Maybe I´ll order the 236K first and then the 177.
Or I´ll just order them both at the same time. ;)
