Well thought i might give it a try! I had purchased a franken 1016 which turned out to be shitty and sold my tcv6 so really need a super nice Rolex rep like this to hold me over! Should you ever want to sell it to me, i'm definitely interested Sir!

IMO best way for a super Rolex rep is to build yourself. You can handpick the parts this way to ensure you only use parts YOU really like. ;)

That is certainly true. Not that i'm lazy or anything, butrather have little knowledge about building or at least putting togetherthe necessary parts for a specific model. Would rather have it from someone who did take their time to build the best! Needless to say Always wanted a Spider Dial and my life will be just a little more complete-r with it! :)

LOL, that is too funny. I have been looking for a specific gen 5513 for a long time and last week compared my franken with my friend late 60's gen and....we both commented on how hard it was to tell the difference. So then I think why would I spend 10k+ on a watch that looks just like the one I have. In the end each has to decide their own ROI on a piece. I still get that gen is gen feeling so in the end it is probably worth it to me, but certainly would not be for everyone.

So true Mark. If the BB Blue wasn't a piece that I really wanted and have been looking at since it came out, the rep would probably be enough for me. Just like if someone wasn't into Rolex, but wanted one, the rep would probably be enough.

But those little details and level of quality, and of course as you said gen is gen feeling, make it worth it to me.

But seriously, if I didn't know what to look for, I wouldn't know the difference. Now anyone at our riduclous level of WIS would know, and if you are spending serious money on a watch, you do your homework, but man that rep is close.

I have the same dilemma. Picked up 2 frankenjusts (sold 1) and now I'm not sure if I want a gen DJ. Everything on the franken is pretty much gen except the movement and bracelet.

Its very true. If I put my gen BB against my rep BB, a lot of people (I think) would pick the rep, because it really is that close, if you couldn't tell I am amazed how close it actually is.

For me it comes down to do you really want to own the watch? To me the Black Bay is great, I love everything about it, and it is at a relatively affordable entry price and I wanted to own it. So it was a no brainer for me.

I have very similar linen 16014 build I think. All gen but the movement and Matt's DWO. I am not as much of a DJ nut as I am with Subs and GMT's so this will do fine as the DJ in my collection. Some models are next to impossible to build correct: relieve gilt dials, vintage GMT's because of the case, and anything with GOLD....Only exception is a gilt dial produced by the nameless one-- that is gen like, but those builds approach collectible gen cost.
