Just finished one of my favorite references! The 6239 Daytona with tropical dial. The dial is originally black, then aged in a humid space for almost 2 years to get a nice dark brown. You can see that it's different than a dial that would be printed in brown - much more natural.

With all these builds running around, how do you ever buy gen vintage with any confidence? Crazy skillz here @TheSociety.

Thanks bro! Yeah I agree it's really tough to see what's gen and whats rep especially since even with a craptastic rep you would still be wondering if you're standing in line at Starbucks next to it! With a superfranken unless you give someone a loupe and they're an expert on the specific reference they're checking they're gonna have a real tough time figuring it out [emoji4]

Hi Society,
I LOVE your builds! They look absolutely stellar.
I am in the market to get a panda 6263. Unfortunately, a build for me is just not possible. I really don't have the time or the skills unfortunately.

Would you be interested in building me one? I would not need a super movement (genuine), but something that just works well and won't break in a month.
I'm more interested in the aesthetics being correct or as close as possible.
If you wouldn't be able to do it - would you know who could/would?

I have several real Rolex's already (BLNR GMT (aka Batman), 16750 Pepsi GMT (mint), white face Daytona (11620) and a Bell & Ross BR01-92).
I have always longed for a 6263, but just don't have that kind of money. This seems like the only way to go.

Also, I made it through all the pages of your build thread and see that you're a fellow petrol head. I too LOVE cars! Attached is a pic of me giving the thumbs up from Mid-Ohio (third place overall). We mostly race in the AER (American Endurance Racing Series). Two - 9 hour races over a weekend. We've had a few podium finishes.

Thanks and really appreciate your help/threads/builds

I just stopped by my local Rolex AD and got to know one of the techs that did several years of watch schooling (young guy too). He's open to helping me build a 6263! He also has access to parts and movements that I'd never have access to.
Now the hunt is on for the best case and accessories. Hoping he can source a V727 or convert a V72.

Nice! I just messaged you. Regarding a V727 gen movement would run you around 9-10k if you can find one. I have one in my 6263 panda. But you could convert one for about $3-$3.5k (a Valjoux 72 and servicing cost not included)

Ok so I have WAYYY too many builds going on but this is something very special. As you know most COMEX cases are, well, WRONG! They have protruding HEV, bad crownguards (too thick), and bad dials, pearl etc you name it! The worst is the caseback are not engraved in a gen like way.

I present to you here, a seriously gorgeous 5514 case and dial. I'll be using a cal 1520 (not the 1570 pictured) but the movement pictured is so stunning I have to include it - it's a 1570 (technically a 1575 since it has the date function) that will be in a 1680 build!

Someone is about to be a very happy owner - a 6263 RCO and a 6241 newman panda dial!

Just started owning a franken 6263 and realised the biggest flaw of this franken watch is the bakelite bezel! I presume these are front Phong Viet? The seconds track on the bakelite doesnt connect to the crystal, the markers are tad too short. And this is a big tell for any 6263 enthusiast... :(

@couler I always say for the OCD enthusiasts they can always get gen parts. The gen Bakelite (technically just plastic) is about $3.5-5k.

Or you can get a gen steel bezel for $1.5-2.5k. I wouldn't say it's a big tell either. It's a watch, if you nitpick it even a gen starts looking like it's got aftermarket parts.
