Getting a dial from MQ can be a bit of a minefield apparently, I asked a few weeks back about one I wanted, so I thought I would order it and now the price is almost double what it was then

Phong has this one for $450 but it's not a proper gilt one so not really an upgrade from what I have already (2nd picture)

Here is my experience in dealing with Ruby.

I have purchased a few items from her in person last year. She is a nice person to deal with. She said she could make me any dial if I provided an example photo. I asked her once to make a different version of a dial for me but never came through in getting it completed blamed it on her supplier.

Her dials are good but some had flaws, the lume flaked off and was missing on some parts. So it is a hit or miss. Ask for detailed QC photos, and lumed shots as well.

The good thing is if she has what you want it is a value buy.

The bad.
She doesn’t have/know technical details about the products she sells, she gets a limited supply whenever she goes back home. She forwards any questions to her source for answers.

I agree. I’ve had 3 MQ dials and they tend to be slightly different from the pics they have on their website. In 2 occasions I asked qc pics and they just sent the same pics that was on their website.

That is a very bad comercial practise, if we choose a dial usually is after plenty of time double checking against a gen pic, fonts, serifs, positioning, color... a small difference makes a great difference, and these are no cheap...!!! How much different your dials were?

Problems were with ”Submariner” text. Webpics showed correctly positioned, but when received, it was too much on the left or right. My recent dial has the sub text correctly positioned but the lume paint is wrong. On their website it was advertised ”White lume”, but received one with off-white lume. It looks completely different...

Hope you didn't paid $800 each for "randomly" printed dials.
I can understand a variation in color of the lume, though it's difficult to accept if you paid high price, but a printing "randomly" positioned is really unfair and definitely unacceptable IMHO

MQs are 300, also they can be sent back.
You were lucky if you got a price of 300 from MQ mate, like I said above he asked 800 euros for the dial I wanted and I just can't justify that price

I'm guessing a lot. MQ's mark-up is apparently the highest.
Maybe, but hands down he has the best lume/marker application. The rest of them look like dots or sugar crystals. His looks the closest to actual tritium lume material, which is more powdery looking. His dials are the most expensive next to gen, but if your looking for something convincing, there are no other options outside of gen. I have done many builds and they will take the cake every time over Yuki, Phong etc. As far as the product you get, it can vary unfortunately but will usually be far and above anything else you can get. For me, the most convincing part of a dial are the lume plots and font. Print quality, even in gens, can vary. Just my $.02.

I agree they're superior to Yuki & Fong. What are your feelings on The Society's dials? Or Tripdog's?
