What AP Franken(s) do you have in the works?!

I have a vested interest in trying to solve the omega DW alignment issue (if we can call it an issue just for the sake of discussion)—

I believe that the question posted by slaughterer62 was a sincere one and not put forth with any ulterior motives— I had been following this build with avid interest and have been aware of alignment issues for several months, and mostly in the context of satisfying the client’s expectations.

I do see that it is a minor issue that is dependent on dates, but I am sympathetic to the client given how much attention was invested in making the other details of this build so nice.

If this is a matter of simple adjustment, can someone share the details of how to make that adjustment, for dabblers like me who might try to make this work in similar builds?

Thanks a lot in advance. I want to learn and hope not to offend anyone here.

i will put my theory here. i am certain the omega and mikey date wheels are pad printed and not digital print so there is a element of human interaction that can throw the most precise etch print plate. omega and mikey font pushes the boundaries and double digits 20, 22-30 sat very close to the left and right opening. the original edge v1 date wheel was very conservative and the numbers sat well inside the opening.

> there is very little left-right adjustment. the mainplate is milled precise for the date wheel to sit in a position that only allows rotation.
> should all 31 number sit high or low. you could re-position the correction spring and check if it changed the high-low.
> brass ringlets are milled, stamped or other method. it is impossible that all 31 teeth are perfectly spaced and cut for every brass ringlet that came off production line. to help you understand this, the distance and depth between each tooth must be equal or result in a shift. this error can not be adjusted and set forever or the modder than attempts to make these fine adjustment has too much time on his hand. So to shift #24 to the right you have to adjust the space at #7 that sits at the correction spring.
> no date wheel can be 100% aligned unless the person that sets the print machine spends a lot of time with setup and they need to place each blank on point. when you print 20-50 boredom sets in and you could be less careful with some pieces. google pad printing and screen printing to understand how this works.

in any case it is worth to swapping the correction spring for another. DO NOT expect each number on the omega or mikey date wheel to be perfectly centered. AP, Patek, VC, rolex, every brand is prone to the same error. you have to accept these spacing errors, go gen for tighter tolerances or get a digital watch.

- Domis 1 x AR Glass
- Swiss LWO Movement
- JF Base Watch
- closed Diver Caseback with Diver Screws

Domi needs to work the Tachy Holder completely because the newer Tachys are fixed in an additional Tachy Holder/Ring. With Rep Tachy it would be easier like the “older” Models but the Construction is different for the newer Series.

I know the Gen Movement would be perfect but it’s very expensive and I have some more Projects therefore the solution with Diver Caseback.

Here is the Tachy with Holder. Therefore Domi needs to build also a completely new Movement Holder.

Thanks AI. Do you have a black Hornback? It looks amazing. I don’t like the brown.

Personally I think the safari should be paired with a brown hornback but ultimately it’s a matter of preference.
Smp_lover can make you a very nice one if you care to pm him. :)

Amazing build, great parts that you put together, and amazing craftsmanship/resourcefulness by Domi as usual...

You pulled out all the stops... adding the gen movement would have made this insane, nearly genenstein

Thank you very much Jurgen!

The open Caseback is ready and when I find a Gen Movement with acceptable Price Range I will add it.
