Agree, a real shame. And for what I'm concerned, it's not only about tool watches. I also don't like the fashion of adding subdials making chronos, perpetual calendars and whatnot to originally time only models. This relates to most brands except Rolex.IWC trying hard to go the AP route. Which is a shame as the Ingenieur is supposed to be a tool watch.
That's all well and good, but I see it from a rep-freak's perspective. Three-hand models may be beautifully simple in design, but at least for me, it's the complications that "justify" the sometimes extremely high price. And the perpetual calendar is at the top of the list. Personally, I could imagine spending 25k on an Ingenieur with a perpetual calendar rather than 15k on the three-hand version... even though I know full well that the other movement does not justify the 10k surcharge ;-)Agree, a real shame. I could imagine spending 15k on a perpetual calendar watch that was born as a perpetual calendar watch. Not on an integrated bracelet time-only watch that was stuffed with complications for the sake of revenues. That's all well and good, but I see it from a rep-freak's perspective. That´s ok. I just wanted to sell you the 26586TI for 15k but now I sell her on Chrono24 ;-)I could imagine spending 15k on a perpetual calendar watch that was born as a perpetual calendar watch. That's what I was talking about. That and his cousins, Laureato, Alpine Eagle, Zenith...
I guess in the end it´s a question of personal taste. But ultimately, it's also a question of what aspects of watchmaking you value. In the case of the 26586TI, for example, AP has managed to integrate a perpetual calendar into a watch that is just 6.2mm thick. Of course, this wouldn't be possible in a visually appealing way with a classic PC design like the one you have in mind. That's what the RO design lends itself to.That's what I was talking about. That and his cousins, Laureato, Alpine Eagle, Zenith...
Chopard Alpine Eagle exists, but maybe not this dial
Do they still have the ‘screw problem’? In the first photos, the screws on the bezel were never aligned. That looked wild ;-)Chopard Alpine Eagle exists, but maybe not this dial
What a pity. The bezel screws in particular are naturally überpresent on this model. And this flaw simply cannot be unseen.
It really feels like Tudor is limited alot by Rolex.Tudor's issues are a big letdown....
Upsize this, color down this, make this deeper (=thicker). Very "rolexy". Boring and unimaginative.
It somewhat contradicts the widespread notion that Rolex uses Tudor to dare, bring out stuff that, if it works, will appear in Rolex offerings a few years after. Whixh could make sense, but in this case....It really feels like Tudor is limited alot by Rolex.
Okay, 43mm Pelagos Ultra at 5k, in Titanium priced 1/2 of the Seadweller, but let's make sure it doesn't technically beat the Seadweller in depth otherwise we look stupid.....
We had this before. Sometimes a PC in a sports watch case looks better than a PC in a PC-Case
Patek has been slowly losing the plot for a while now. What did we get. Smaller Cubitus in white gold, rolled out with very little fanfare (oops Thierry Stein released maybe making a 45mm chunker for his wrist was not the market target audience for Patek), the same old Calatravas, a new Travel Time... ok coolWe had this before. Honestly: This one is just too fat for my taste.
