I got a letter in the mail saying my watch was seized by customs, which is very strange to me because i've ordered from Toro twice before to the same address as always, and never had any customs problems. Should i do what the letter says and work something out? Its a Panerai Arktos that Toro had on special. I've already notified Toro through email and PM. Letter attached below.

Correct - do nothing with this letter. Sending a note to Toro is the best way to go through the process.

how long did it take from the day Toro ship out the watch to the day you receive the letter?

That is weird. That letter says nothing about US Customs.
As a matter of fact, if you punch your shipping number into the USPS tracking it shows it cleared Customs, on the 15th.

Not sure what is going on here........

I would not even call that number or set a meeting with them. No, don't do it. I would just forget about it, contact your TD, and arrange some kind of replacement with him. Many TDs here, after seeing proof like that, will reimburse you or replace the item.

this isn't letter from US customs, but from USPS postal inspector. Call them if i were you, nothing to fear imo. But b prepared what to say, eg gift from a friend/relative in china or brought this from taobao etc...(email your TD to work with him, in case your postal office ask for purchased receipt etc)

best of luck..

First of all, as was mentioned, this is a letter from the USPS Inspection Service.

It's not illegal in the US to buy counterfeit goods, only to sell them. So I don't think you would be screwed.

If TD says contact them, I would...worst case scenario they take the watch.

At least you have a chance and you have followed your TD's instructions and I'm sure he will try and make it right.

Not technically I've only heard of customs holding your packages and if that was the case I wouldn't respond but trust the TD he has plenty of experience dealing with shipping hassles

"Conspiracy to smuggle"...really? I have never read about anyone getting arrested. (If I'm wrong, please speak up:adoration:)

It's the OP's call, but I would work with Toro on this...as he is the one who will make it right in the end.

After reading what the USPS defines as "non-mailable" items, it usually applies to things that have an injurious nature like firearms and drugs but not watches. I think it strange that it passed customs but the postal service is holding it. If you feel brave enough call the number and ask why it is being held as non-mailable and see what they say. If they tell you it's a counterfeit item then tell them to send the gift back and you'll have to figure it out with the dealer. Tell the Post Office that cybee says hello

True...LiPO batteries for example, not mailable anymore, and all those RC units coming from China you know...

I'd call, if it gets wonk, like cybee says, tell them to return it to sender.

Yep batteries are a now a no-no along with certain fragrances. Though I'm not sure which fragrances, perhaps just the smelly ones.
