That looks more like a vsf to meThat looks more like a vsf to me. Crown guards looks small, and it looks like no screw on balance wheel.

It actually looks like a ZF to me: CG's are not short at all and the screw is there, the picture is just so blurry that you can't see it.
Plus, there are several other clear hints that confirm that this is an actual ZF.
Not the best specimen for sure, but it is.

So I have asked Hont if I can just pay the difference and get an RAF 16610lv. It’s another watch that I’ve been meaning to get for a while, as I don’t have a decent Rolex rep yet. I’ve always been a fan of the 5 digits, and the look of the Kermit has really been growing on me. So I will keep you updated when I get his reply.

Oh boy. So Hont has succeeded in finding me a ZF. Unfortunately the printing on the dial is again in horrible condition.
I feel bad having to rl again, knowing that this is the third watch he has found for me. But it is the first ZF that he has found. It also sucks because the indices look great on this one and I know zf sometimes has trouble getting them lined up. I really hope his patience has not worn thin. He hasn’t replied yet since I’ve asked him to find another watch

Don't feel bad for a single second. Receiving QC with such an obvious issue reflects poorly on the TD, not you. You're not nitpicking.

So I asked Hont for the arf/raf Kermit. I paid him the difference, and he found one in under 24 hours for me.
It looked pretty good to me, so I GL. The only thing I noticed was the timegrapher numbers, it’s running -32 spd. I will try to regulate that on my own, but I don’t mind throwing a vs3135 in there if I have to.
I may turn this into a little Franken project if I can find some good parts on the bay.

I've been talking to a different TD (not Hont) regarding a ZF SMP300 and they've said the VSF is better apparently. Been reading a few threads and seems like almost everyone talks about the crown tube issue with the VSF watch. I wanted an NTTD too but looks like I won't be getting one after all the posts regarding the stripping issue. If only I could be persistent like the OP and say no. Only ZF for me. The TD isn't pushing me to get a VSF but they reckon it is better than ZF (even though all the posts on various threads here seem to recommend ZF over VSF).

For me it came down to the dial and lume color. I wanted the white dial, and the vsf lume is too yellow/grey compared to the crisp white dial. It was too obvious to my eye. If I had wanted a black blue or green dial then the lume color would not have bothered me so much.

I'm looking at either the green dial, black dial or blue bezel/grey dial. Still haven't made up my mind. I was also looking at the white dial but I saw a video where the black dial in the (gen) smp300 shines so beautifully when out in the sun. That made me want a black dial watch.

Have you found any QC of the ZF blue bezel/grey dial? I've searched and searched and not found anything. The pics on Puretime are dark and don't really show if the sunburst dial effect is gen-like.

Unfortunately no. I've only seen a few ORF blue/grey watches. And a couple of VSFs iirc. No ZF. The ORF sunburst looks pretty decent though.

I'm also looking for a black dial but haven't seen photos yet. I saw a video of the gen black SMP and that was so shiny. Mirror-lile almost. I wonder if the reps are the same.
