Just called an AD and he had a 683 in stock. Measured thickness for me and he said he was getting a read at 13.1

The question is how does it wear I’m use to 47 but like the 44 I am hoping the 42 is not much different

I wonder how noticeable 1.3mm is?

In terms of relative height, that's 10% of the original thickness so it is significant. That may make the difference between the watch fitting under the cuff or not. Although I don't know if the gen can fit under the cuff, on one hand submersibles are not particularly known to be comfortable worn under a sleeve but on the other being 13.25 (or 13.1 as Tgz's contact measured) certainly does make that a possibility.

But on an exposed wrist, the difference is probably going to be all in your head.

I’m torn on this myself. I was skeptical of the 42 thinking it wouldn’t get much wrist time because of the size. But I was skeptical of the 984 and I really love it, making me realize I can go by what I see on paper.

I have the 799 which I absolutly love. The 799 and my love for it makes me want to give this a try. But The fact that I have the 799 makes me think this is just too similar.

And now I have thhe 984 as a new watch (not to mention this twice but I hate to have so many “new” watches all jockeying for attention). And I also got my replacement pearl from VSF in the mail today so I get the 1616 back so it’s like two new watches, a third might just complicate that mix too much.

But it really does does look good. Maybe I’ll just keep an eye on the m2m forum and wait for something to pop up.

Sell all, 683 is the prettiest by far

Love that more 42mm submersibles are being repped. Does anyone know when other TDs start to sell this one (if they will at all)? Since I read that trustytime is no longer a TD, it would feel better to wait until I can order via intime/puretime/jtime.

Just show them the watch and ask.

I’ve been looking at this and thinking it’s supposed to be a slightly different but smaller version of the 799. Like the 960 vs 1616 - not exactly but along the same lines.

I’m just now seeing that it’s not carbotech but ceramic. Which is really only going to make me want this.

Does anyone know if the REP has a real ceramic bezel?

We've had real ceramic bezels before (on other brands and PAMs like the PAM389, PAM1389 and PAM684 (42mm)) so there's nothing that would say the one on the PAM683 isn't real ceramic as well.

I'm very disappointed with the thickness and won't be ordering as a result. Kinda sad as this was going to be my first venture into Panerai territory. above 14mm is too thick to stomach for me.

Toro confirmed - real ceramic bezel. He has them in stock now too. Has been providing great QC pics and has been very patient and responsive. Highly recommend Toro.
