May be in a majority of one but I like this combo..
Had the Green strap from the 1055 and the Black from the 683 and swapped them over

Hi @jonnybaws , do you know where I can get a kaki strap like this one? This one looks to be good quality.
The ones I see on aliexpress look cheap and not the same texture of silicone.
The black one I got with my VSF is actually very good quality.

Thanks!

Stopped by the AD today, to pick up a khaki strap.
683 in display. I honestly see no difference with the VSF...
And for 10 700 €, wow... Had mine for 3% of retail price..
ALtough I can totally understand going gen for some watches (and I have a few); but for this ref, which I really like personnaly but it's more about esthetics than movement , I would never consider going gen and paying this kind of $$..

think most of the complaints with this watch is the fish eye crystal. i have the same VSF one and its perfect to me. slight fish eye but not that big deal that anyone would notice. i have a few pams and this is by far the best one ive ever purchased. love mine

With the kaki rubber (y)

I do also love mine REP 683, fisheye is absolutely not a problem. How is the GEN rubber (what is the material?)? If made in Austria i think it could be from Hirsch? which hopefully means natural caoutchouc :)

The REP strap is good, elastic but chemical, got some skin irritations but only on the free loop/ring side... so considering to try out the dark blue Tempomat Madrid rubber strap in near future.

PS i see yours is also having the '30' misalignment (barely visible) on the bezel... seems to be a general 'issue'.

Cheers

I think the only true complaint is that the movement is thicker than gen. But on a big boy model like a Panerai its unnoticeable completely on wrist

gen is very nice, softer than rep and the feel is not the same either, less grainy.. Even though I felt the VSF black rubber was already very nice. Weirdly it is a bit tighter, while i use the same hole.
It is made in Italy

From that PIC i can barely see the CP (Cannon Pinion) size difference compared to REP which is nice!
GEN -> CP small diameter
REP -> CP bigger diameter

I have a 683 coming in, and I'm already dreaming about straps. I think that's the true curse of Panerai owners, gen and rep alike.
I'm firstly thinking about green/kaki rubber but have trouble finding places to buy rep straps. Anyone who has some tips? I have been browsing through most TD's.

Unfortunately the most cost effective option is to just order straps. VS produces alot of Panerai straps and while they're pricey for a rep they're the best quality per dollar on the market right now

But where can I buy rep straps from VS/VSF?

Contact your favorite TD. Ask a bunch of them. I'd probably go with Steve or Anidiotl

It helps if you purchase a watch on top of the strap order.

So next time you order a rep watch ask them to source some straps for you too.

Great tip, I will remember that if it becomes relevant, thanks. I'm in Europe, so limited opportunities to buy from TD's for me, so got the 683 from a member sale.

Ordering from TD isn't scary. I get alot of people are scared from it but once you start buying from a dealer you trust and have a relationship with it's much easier and better than M2M.
