The watch is increible, but canon pin is wrong, I think must be black no steel.

Somebody must tell to dealers and factory.

Could just be lighting. But yes, hard to get a 100% definite. Here's another gen photo:

Anyone considering swapping out the strap? I think a custom black w blue stitch canvas strap light look great.

I would if I could find that type of strap. Would look great on the 960.

It’s such a dope watch, if you like how it looks just buy it. Is it prob a bit too thick? Sure - but the chances of sitting next to someone on a train or plane ride wearing a gen is about 1:billion with this piece.

colorao01 I went through the same examination of the 1616 and the gen is silver there too. It's just lighting. The look of the cannon pin is off slightly but it's not something you'd notice irl. It's really only something you see with macro pics and with a Pic of the gen. But the detail is the same if you were to describe it.

preppyr6 airbowatch again, I went through the same search for the strap for the 1616.

I ended up finding the strap pictured below at corrigia for $275. I sent pics to Dr Phil and he made me (what looks like) an exact copy of the strap for a very reasonable price.

Pic with the buckle is the corrigia (275) strap. The ones on the lattice are the ones Dr. Phil made me. I'm sure he can make you one for the 22mm lugs.

Last one is a stone or grey with blue stitching I got for the 799. Even just the blue stitching would work well with this reference.

What do you mean? All the 42s are available right now. The 904 the 688.

No 629, no 933 ...
And the available Due is way too thick compared to the original.

What’s the strap changing system on this model?

Lol this. Chances are a few of us don’t exactly look/dress/drive like we throw around 18k for a Panerai of all things. I’ll be wearing this as I’m driving my moms Subaru to my local planet fitness bc hey it’s $10/mo

Conventional spring bars. There are holes in the end of the lugs, like on the 47mms, but they don't seem to go all the way through. I just used a standard springbar removal tool to push the edge of the rubber back and expose the bar end. There are no tubes.

Just received one from perfectclone. It’s my first rep buy. The rotor is pretty loud, when I wind the watch it’s making screeching sound and the weight feels little bit light. Other than that enjoying the watch big time.
Big thanks to everybody in this thread, great source of information that helped in my decision making.

I just found out that Panerai is making another 42mm sub that has the same movement as the 960 and 684, and the Panerai WEBSITE is stating that case thickness for that watch is 14.37mm... SO if that is the case with the gen 960 and 684, which I imagine it is, then these reps are actually way closer to gen thickness than discussed in here! +1 for sure.

This beauty arrived just a few minutes ago! The strap is actually very flexible and soft. I didn’t expect that. Very pleased with the watch. The noise on mine is oke but still audible.

superspark69 on the new green Pam submersible 42 you posted about. It’s on the Panerai write up - states 14.37mm.
