VS3235 Problem

The VS325 in my Starbucks is having hand adjustment problem.
With the stem pulled out to the time adjustment position the hands just failed to move at all, the stem simply gives a free run with the crown turning. What could be the problem? Is it the gear / pinion issue? Can this be fixed or the movement is dead and needs a new replacement?
Any help and advices would be most appreciated.

Have you tried turning the hands in both directions? If it's only happening in one direction then it's possible that your crown might be loose and slowly unscrewing.

Sounds like an issue with the keyless works. It could be a broken setting lever. Or it could be the teeth on the sliding pinion or intermediate setting wheels have stripped.

Crown being unscrewed from the stem is possible. Or damaged crown clutch, so it spins

Or it can also be the setting wheel not engaging the minute wheel. I had that issue with a a2836 due to shitty tolerances.

Was solved by changing setting wheel and minute wheel… but no clue where to source those parts for a 3235

But the date is adjustable though. So it means the setting wheel has problem?
Another problem is that a VS3235 movement replacement is nowhere to be found....

Swap with a VR3235

VS3235 is not pubicly avaliable
Yeah. There seems to be a new version of VR3235 with the regulator studs placed back to the usual position instead of inverted backwards.
Not sure if this is a true 3235 clone or still is a 3135 molded.
BTW, does it accept the VS 126610 dial as per gen spec?

Vr and vs swap will work no issue but need to swap stems and crowns

Vr3235 not true clone still 3135 base which is why need to swap stem

Dont worry about it you can check with other watch makers but i saw many VS 126 swapped with 126610

Oh, that's what I thought too.
So the VS dial, hands etc can be directly swapped onto VR3235 then.
Understand stem needs to be changed but why the crown?

Sorry, I'm not clear, you're right, let me be specific :

Need to deattach the rep crown from stem from VS3235, put the rep crown onto the stem of VR3235, that's what I mean

Again, please check and DM the forum watchmakers, dogwood, tongsui, majorwilliams, etc, they will confirm for you, but here I remeber from dogwood that he says it's feasible :

I have the same watch and I am having your same exact problem, I was wondering if NEW RELEASE: VSF 3235 -> 3230 Phantom Date Fix Mod by dogwood would be relevant? and please let me know if you were able to find a solution for this. I have got all the tools ready to work on it but I am still new to this so I want to know exactly what I need to do once I open the case!! Cheers

The mod is only needed to remove the phantom date correction position from older VSF 124060 reps which came with the vs3235 before Dandong made a vs3230 movement.

Thanks @dogwood, totally understand that the mod is specifically for removing the phantom date on the older VSF 124060s.

In my case (same watch and issue as @bertieng ), I was mainly using your mod post as a guide to understand the movement and setting mechanism a bit better before opening up the case. It’s been really helpful just to get familiar with what’s inside.

When I opened mine, I noticed the setting lever screw seems to be loose or coming out, so I’m thinking that could be related to why the hands don’t move in the time-setting position. Would really appreciate if you have any thoughts on what to check or do differently, or if you think any spare parts might be needed.

Appreciate all your work and insights, it really helps those of us still learning!

Good point... and yes, I forgot that I made an install tutorial over in that thread which covers quite a lot of the keyless works of the 3235/3230 movement. And you make an excellent observation about the setting level jumper not being properly seated. The setting lever jumper needs to be properly located on the two mounting columns otherwise the setting lever won't move far enough, which means the yoke won't move far enough, which means the sliding pinion won't move far enough to engage the setting pinion. So yeah.... that's a good thing to check--make sure the setting lever jumper is properly mounted on its two mounting posts.

Thanks, that makes a lot of sense.
I’m completely new to working on watches, never done it before. Just trying to learn as much as I can before diving in.

I’ll definitely check the setting lever jumper and make sure it’s properly seated on the mounting posts. That could explain why the crown’s free spinning and the hands aren’t moving.

Appreciate the help. Cheers
