VIP member - does it really mean something?

Hi, just wondering why some people seem to put a lot of value on being a VIP on the site. All it means as far as I can tell is that you have paid for a "membership".

For example, I donated money after my sale and anyone can donate money whenever they want, without being a VIP or being recognised for it.

Am I missing something?

Something changed? Now when I click on the Become a VIP button it now shows this:

Well, you are supporting a forum which, likely, has given, is giving and will give you a wealth of information and support. VIP status shows that you support the forum and are hopefully here for the long haul. VIP gives you access to a VIP subforum and increases the size of your PM box. It also helps pay for hosting costs associated with running a forum with 50K+ members.

Its a way for me to feel like I am part of a community of like minded men who enjoy sharing their experiance with others. So why not support that with a few coppers a day?

I don't know about other dealers/strap makers but I always give VIP discounts on straps.

I know there are no 100% failsafe methods from getting scammed but IMHO becoming a VIP reduces to some degree those chances, plus as a member it does add a bit of credibility....not only that but food will actually start to taste better too, it's amazing.

Oh, and I almost forgot the VIP lounge showcased by scantily clad elderly women swinging from the ceiling. Just one of many reasons to
become a VIP :cheers:

Like everything in life, running an international forum site has cost. VIP helps to cover that.

My account is limited but due to some autopartd purchased last summer either never refunded out recharged. I can't sort it out, never really wanted to except to purchase some more watches. That's why I posted a few badges for trade. A member expressed interest in one to purchase so tomorrow I plan to just pay the fools but I sincerely hope you do come up with an alternative, as I'm sure are many others as well. Good luck sitting things out and once things are right both her and my employment situation I'll be reinstating my vip status. Least I could do for all the help and let's face it, entertainment!

Its nice to have a banner that says VIP. I like this forum so i support it by have VIP status.

Have we considered Amazon payments? Its just like PayPal with similar fee structure but they dont stick their nose into your personal business.
