It’s not a matter of simply installing Mikey dw or double AR crystals on everything and calling it good. The cal. 2226 or 2326 which the JPM or Ruben Barrichello series use have different datewheel fonts than the 3126 series ones. Likewise the modern 26470 ROOs use different fonts than the G/H series ones. The old noob ROO datewheels are actually more suitable and accurate for models like the RB2 and JPM. The JF and Mikey ones look plain wrong on these specific examples.

All true, and as legend can tell you, gens of various vintages can end up with modern fonts after being serviced by AP -- unclear what happens to RB2 and JPM after a service, however.

I’ve wondered about whether or not it’s a good thing that vintage fonts get replaced with modern fonts during service. The AP ROO seems to be an evolving entity, both technically and aesthetically. I suspect AP sees this replacement as a sort of progress. Either that or it's just lack of availability of old stock DWs or laziness.

That is the SIHH 2019 44mm ROO released by AP. I don't think it is a replacement for the 42mm elephant, please don't confer misleading nicknames upon it lol.
Having said that, thank you for sharing, I think it is a very nice model. I viewed this only last month in Singapore, and it is a beauty in the flesh compared with pics.

I am ok with whatever nickname, but was just pointing out that the 44mm grey model is not a replacement for the 26470 "elephant". In fact I think that the "Ghost" is a more direct replacement for the elephant. So Koala, Rhino, or whatever grey animal you can think of works I guess, since such monikers are arbitrary.

Seems like only Tapatalk VIP allows sharp pictures to be loaded? Photos were real sharp but after posting it it’s all dull.
