Since the "launch" of the V2 3135 clone movement last week, I've contemplated getting the sub c but was hesitant because I didnt want a noob case. As you know, removing the bezel is next to impossible on a noob without risking major damage to the assembly and more importantly, yourself.
I've asked a couple of sources, including Angus if he can confirm if the new watch is simply a noob, or from another maker. They claim that the movement itself can accept Gen replacement parts, but what about the bezel assembly and crown/tube? Both sources could not verify if this was the case.
But as I was driving in to work today, I thought I would look at a comparison between the new V2 3135 case (http://puretime.co/shop/product/submariner-116610-ln-sa3135-best-edition-v2/) and the noob that we are all familiar with:
You will notice that the crown alignment on the case is where it should be, as opposed to the lower location of the noobs. So that's a good start. So CG trimming may not be required at all.
But if you look at the bezel, they look completely different. The fluting seems to be cut slightly deeper so that the bottom of the flutes are closer to the chamfer at the bottom of the bezel, which I believe, is more "correct".
At the same time, note the height of the crystal on the V2...Not as flush compared to the noobs. I believe this too is more correct.
This suggests to me that these new V2 subs originate from a different factory.
However, I'm no expert. Just thought I'd post my observation. I may take the plunge and report back.
