sit and wait.. nothing else to do really

thankfully, i planned ahead and got all my hauls in before the may 2 tariff judgement day :) here's my most recent haul so you guys can get an idea of how stuff moves thru china right now.. hell, it takes a minimum 7 days for it to transit thru china alone!!! so definitely if you wanted a watch, the order should've been placed at a maximum.. 2 weeks ago around the 22nd or so. Anything else risks it being seized, tariff'd, returned to china etc..

and yes :) I had 25KG's worth of items sent.. figured it will be my last haul for a good long while until things get settled down.

it won't last forever.. that's for sure!
I have an order coming from Raffles and thought it would be here in plenty of time. I was really starting to get worried but found out today that it just hit the states. Cutting it pretty close!

I think de minimis is gone worldwide? Maybe it’s a lower rate, but it was scrapped to avoid triangle shipping from Mexico / Canada.

De minimis is only affected for stuff from China and Hong Kong at this point. Still applies to everything from Europe, Canada and Mexico, etc.

Okay, I get that politics isn’t encouraged

Mmmph. I thought I was being polite about him compared with what I really think.

Oh, no worries at all, bro — you weren’t really out of line, maybe just toeing it a bit. 🤭😅

I wasn’t speaking as a mod in any official capacity here (well, maybe a little bit) ... But mostly like a buddy giving friendly advice. I’m no fan of you know who either (🤭), and honestly, our admins have been pretty chill in letting people vent a bit politically.

That said, we just can’t let it veer into something too heated or confrontational. If it gets too pointed, it could prompt “the other side” (meant in a completely neutral and constructive sense) to push back — and tbh, it would not entirely be without reason if one side gets too offensive.

So yeah, that’s all I meant: let’s try to keep it respectful and thoughtful as possible.... That way, we show appreciation to the admins for giving us a bit of leeway, while still keeping the space decent for everyone, regardless of their own ideological affiliation. 😊

Triangle shipping. No problems.

Honestly, at the end of the day, there’s really no need to stress over this too much.

Like I said, I’d personally just sit tight for the next few weeks or even months.

But let’s not forget — our TDs have never exactly operated within the strictest bounds of legality anyway (to put it mildly). 😄 I mean, when have we ever paid full (or any) taxes on TD shipments from China? 😂 And historically, they’ve always come up with clever workarounds to somehow dodge government scrutiny.

The real issue right now is just the uncertainty — nobody knows exactly how this will play out. But give it a bit of time, and I’m confident the TDs will figure out new ways to sneak the goods in, tariffs or no tariffs. Even if it hits 1500% in July, they’ll probably find a loophole by August. 🤣

Same happened to me. Ended up getting a refund.

Is the shipper Uniment? That also might be the issue.

--

Personally I am not ordering anything in the near future, I even cancelled my Amazon Prime.

I have a whole drawer of watches that need to be fixed, so I plan on giving Esslinger a little bit of money in the next few months to start fixing things.

Any reps I buy will be on here from the M2M.

Oh my gosh I was hired as a sales mod just to support @mclarendude's watch habit, it all makes sense!

I figure over the next month or so we will just trade amongst ourselves to keep things interesting. There’s plenty here in the CONUS and from what I’ve seen, many of us have short attention spans judging from the amount of “catch and release”.

I'm just going to start buying all gen. Period.

They may be Seiko, Citizen or Timex gens, but still gen. Oh, and from Facebook Marketplace. Or a flea market.

We've got this. Calculator watches are still cool as hell.

Just wait folks. Who knows what will happen in a month. Maybe the tariffs will be lifted. Maybe they won't. Either way if there's a will there's a way. Triangular shipping will be expensive but that's life.

Sit tight and use the next few months as a point to gather and save some money up, not just for replicas but for the incoming storm.

If the storm passes and we're clear, you have money to buy whatever you want.

If the storm hits hard, well, a little extra savings doesn't hurt in times of emergencies now does it?

Having in issue with getting a Daytona because of shipping issues from China to UK and then to USA. Looks like it’s going to take a few months at the very least.
