Everyone seems willing to blame the poor while ignoring the transfer of wealth from the working class to the wealthy (e.g. Wall St. bailout, Arms dealers like old man Bush, billions in defense of the Kingdom of Saud etc. )
I've said it before and I'll say it again:
…So to answer the dumb-ass question: Do the poor want to work? Yes! If the poor did not want to work we would not have restaurant workers, hotel and convenience store clerks, Wal-Mart associates, drug dealers, priests or prostitutes.
Poor people are taught from the earliest ages that everyone can succeed economically. In the poverty-stricken schools attended by yours truly, doctorron, children were taught that the U.S.A. provided freedom and opportunity and people stayed poor because they were lazy. This was taught to oppressed, dirt-poor children! We thought, “But my mom works 12 hour days in the factory, but we’re still poor. Could we be lazy? Is there something wrong with us?†The truth is, we were criticized for being poor but deprived of economic opportunity. The poor are willing and able to work but they need a responsive economy.
The liberals and the rightist offer no plans to address these issues.
