Ultimate Seadweller vs Genuine (PIC HEAVY)

It looks like the current version from trustytime is $148 (Best version, Asia 2813). Is this about the best "cheaper" version of this watch (as opposed to BK at $350 - $400). I am not as concerned about the movement as I am about the look vs. gen. Any other recommendations in the $150 range?

One thing I have learned in this game is "more expensive does not equal to better."

I am a big fan of the 2813 (21J) reps, it keeps the hobby from getting out of hand. If the movement breaks, its cheap to replace.

I have one being shipped with EMS and can't wait to receive it. Will look into the insert/pearl replacement. I may get this waterproofed and never take it off my wrist!

Great review and comparison with the Gen, it looks pretty good for a $128 rep, with the new pearl it would be pretty hard to tell the difference between the two.

The reviewed watch is from trustytime, who does not appear to be a trusted dealer. First, is trustytime any good? and what trusted dealer has the best seadweller in the $150 range?

Not bad for the money bud... It has some nice potential, or for those who arn't as anal its good to go.

Biggest tells are the obvious pearl blob, the bezel insert, the cut of the bezel teeth and the cgs need some work.

Also swap the xtal to a clarks one that has a nice rounded bevel edge and you are good to go.

These are really quite good. Major tells for me are the pearl ($10 watchmaterial one fixes this), SEL positioning of the first link in relation to the watch lug (this is baaaad), the bezel teeth need little love from Cape Cod and the crystal edge. I own both gen and Noob Asian clone version ( thanks to Trusty as well) and the rest is good enough not to screw with.

Waiting for it to be delivered...will update when I do get it.

I am now leaning towards just leaving the factory bezel with the pearl off.

The bezel font is really accurate, which is most important to me.

Plus, gen pearls fall off in real life too, so it is not un-common to see a gen without one.

The crazy part of reps is, I am thinking of buying a gen pearl from an AD and it will probably cost 1/2 of the watch! LoL

Great review! I have this watch on order and would like to change the pearl right away. Can you take lots of pics when you do the pearl (or bezel) swap?

Great review... You have just helped me decide on my next watch... I like the fact that the Sea Dweller has a date, but not date window; therefore, not date window problems. However, I will change my bezel insert with one from WM.

I just changed the Pearl. Took it from an aftermarket bezel for my 14060:

A) Which one is gen? Left or Right

B) Which one is gen? Left or Right

That looks really good with the new pearl, pretty hard to tell the difference between the two now.

I am no expert but I would guess the one on the right is the Gen, although I could be wrong

From the pearl, it is difficult to tell (Good job!); however, if you look at the crown guards, I would take an educated guess and say the one on the left is the REP...

The pearl on the rep looks like a noob zit pearl, it is better but unfortunatley probably glows poorly, drop a tiny drop of CLEAR harbor freight 5 min epoxy on there using a loop and a oiler
