Tudor Black Bay 58 ZF v2 vs Gen

Hi all,
i have a doubt with the qc of a black BB 58 v2.

the crown tube seems to be too long.

is it a v2 version?

in the photo u see the black BB 58 from the QC and the blu one from a photo of a v2 version of a member.

I dont have this in hand yet so I cant comment on how it is in person, but heres my QC from Hont. Looks way shorter than yours

For reference, its a V2 and I got QC roughly two weeks ago on March 13th. I would ask your TD if the crown is screwed in all the way in that pic? looks like it might be unscrewed maybe? I havent seen a lot of inconsistency in the tube length in a while. If that is screwed down all the way I would personally ask for another one.

it’s not easy to see the tube crown from a front side photo.
I post a front side photo QC of the watch where the tube crown seems to be correct but when u get a macro of the tube crown u really see the tube crown size.

RepJunkie do you find the gen insert a bit dead? I posted this in the main BB58 thread but I'll post it here again. The markers on the gen insert I bought just seem dull :



Well guys, here's the gen bezel insert vs the ZF bezel insert. The one installed is ZF, the one on top is genuine. The pip differences are very visible, however some other differences are:

- the finish seems a touch smoother on gen
- the numerals are considerably darker on gen

I gotta say, the numerals on the ZF insert just look way more lively. The numbers on the gen insert are just kinda, dead? The ZF numerals shine in light and the gen numbers just remain pretty dull looking. I gotta say aside from the pip the ZF insert just looks better hahaha. Kinda disappointed with how the gen insert looks tbh. I have heard some gen owners noticing the numbers lightening up/fading in color quite a bit over time so maybe the gen insert will look better after some wear?

At this point I dont know if I'm even gonna install the gen insert.

For those of you that worry about the crown tube; The current batch from ZF is the v2.5. A silent update that addressed the crown tube length so that shouldn't be a problem anymore.

you bought the wrong watch or your TD sent you the wrong watch. thats not a 58. the 58 is 39mm diameter and around 12mm thick, and has the bezel insert numerals in a gold hue. thats the original 41mm black bay

GL on the first try for me luckily. In the QC pics it looked like it had a long stem but when I got it, it wasn't screwed all the way in. Hont probably left it a bit unscrewed after doing the video to show the hand setting. I GL'd it with the intention to file it down since everything else was perfectly alligned but no such thing was needed luckily. Very happy with it.

That’s a great experience! Wear it in good health, got the blue version myself but really digging the black version as wel.

I would assume so since they're using most of the same parts for the build but don't take is a a fact.

I also bought a gen bezel insert and agree there is a slight difference in the finish but the black look deeper on the gen.

One question where can I get a pip that looks like the gen, I bought one from WSO and it is flat POS. The ZF looks better and I will use it if I cant source a gen.
